Question RCD Suspension Lift

I was wondering if anyone here has installed this lift. I talked with RCD and they told me I'd need a brake swap. A downgrade actually to the 11.25(I think) Rotor since mine is too big when combined with the lift components. My biggest worry is downgrading the brakes while getting a lift and going to 33x12.50s. Also, with this lift would I need new rims? I'm running the factory Alcoa rims and love them, so I prefer not to change a good thing. TIA.

I did not know this kit was still available.
I think the 11" rotors are the bigger ones, so downsizing would mean putting on the 10's.

You would down size to the 10.25" from pre-01. You can upgrade your rotors and such to slotted to get some braking performance back. But they have discontinued the lift...may just have some lef tin stock.

That's what I thought. Hard to believe they haven't all been snatched up, though.

Rafe do you already have this lift?

No, I do not have this lift. Based on what ya'll say it doesn't look like I'll be getting it anytime soon. So, based on that are there any other lifts that ya'll prefer? I avoid body lifts like the plague just because I can't stand them. Personal feelings about them, ofcourse. I'm looking to get about 3 inches, just enough to stuff 32-33s on and look grand. I was debating on jumping on the Dixion Bros. band wagon but they're not cheap lifts, in performance/reliability or the pocket book. Are there any other suggestions? TIA.

Maybe a Superlift?: 3" - 4" Lift System · 2000 - 2009 Ford Ranger 4WD · Superlift · www.superlift.com

Not cheap either, but no suspension lift for 4WD will be, AFAIK. I have not used this product myself.

Ford made a mid model year change to the 2003 4x4 rotors. Early 2003MY are 11.28", later are 12". The 11.28" rotors will fit with the RCD kit but the 12's will not.

Some say that the running change happened in 3/2003 but others dispute that date. All I can say for sure is that my 5/2003 Level II has the larger 12" rotors.

Unless you find a used RCD kit, it won't matter anyway. The RCD Ranger 4x4 kit has been out of production for a while and RCD says that it will never be made again. They just recently got around to removing it from their website.

Looks like I'll be shooting towards the superlift version. Has anyone had any experience with them? I really don't hear anything about them, good or bad. Though, I do know they are a leading brand name in various lifts.

Taken from the TRS lift review thread:

Super lift (98+ IFS)

Super lift is one of the few manufacturers to offer a lift for 98+ rangers. The suspension on the 98+ rangers changed to IFS and therefore the lifts are not as “durable”. Super lift has both a good and bad reputation, more so bad than good though. If you really want to lift your truck (for off-road use, or even a lot of general driving), think about going to the RCD lift or an 83-97 ranger.

Good
· One of the few lifts for 98+ rangers
· Less expensive than some others

Bad
· Does not improve your suspension performance
· Lowers the torsion bar crossmember (steals some ground clearance)

Wow, thanks. Glad I'm not going to make that mistake. Seems like I need to start saving for Dixons Bros lift kit. FourWheeler Mag had nothing but great things to say about them. Not so apt on the LT Suspension.. but I guess that's what limit straps are for.

Well i wouldn't call the Superlift kit a mistake. It's still a decent lift.
Here's an '06 with the Superlift....

Hmm... so it looks like it's well worth the purchase. I'll have to look further into this. Seems MUCH cheaper than most of my other options. And it's exactly what I want. 3-4" with 33s.

You'll need a driveshaft, too. I don't know if that's included in the kit (doubt it) but stock shaft will inevitably break - it's just a matter of time.

Price of driveshaft not included, it is about another $400. Also that review above is for the TTB superlift not the IFS Superlift.
