Default Torsion Bars

Ive been reading around and most of the threads ive seen here have advised against torsion key lifts because of wear on suspension components. what i havent been able to decipher is if its ok to max out stock keys and only aftermarket keys maxed out is bad or what. im a newbie as you can tell and im just learning so lets keep the insults to a minimum thanks

A little bit isnt to bad, by doing this it tweaks the bars and adds added stress to them over time the can warp and such. Its one of those mods that is a 50-50

You dont need new keys. Just crank the bars in your truck and you will be fine and very happy with it. It does change your ride a little but I would say majority of the people on this forum if they have them they have cranked them. Mine are adjusted to level right now. I plan on maxing them out after i bring the rear up a little more.

I keep hearing about cranking up your torsion bars will level out your truck but I also hear that cranking up your torsion bars can be bad. They say that it wears out the front end parts fast and can busted CV's joints. Can anyone help me with this because I want to put bigger tire on my truck by doing a torsion bar cranking. Thanks for your help.

I am pretty sure on the newer trucks like yours its not as simple as going out and turning the bolts. I think you have to get new keys on yours but ^ 2001XLT, you should be good to go.

It does wear out your front end quicker, it's one of those cost/benefit things. Most people agree that the benefit of the "free lift" is worth the additional wear. Also, the more you crank the quicker the wear... so you don't necessarily need to max them out.

if you want it level you will have to uncrank the driver side a bit. the bolts dont necesarily have to be cranked the same length because you want the truck to be level
