Default Poll ?.... 4.10 or 4.56

Okay guys, finished a conversation with STU (aka beef08) tonight, I and him will be getting together soon, We talked about the lift for the trucks and since I have 4 donor rangers here, Only one of them have a 3.73 the others have a 4.10 and 4.56.

Here is my ?, I will be swapping a 4.56 in STU truck if he likes and I will pull another if I have to.

My dilemma is I have receive most of my fit parts, and please remember I have a 3.0 2wd, I have

(FRONT)
1- Doestch 3 inch spidle
2- Doestch 2 inch coil spacer

(REAR)
1- Belltec 6400 shackles
2- Expo 4-door Leaf
3- stock block (may keep them depending on height of ranger)

"PA Body lift" 3 inches.

I should get about 5-8 inch lift, I some will say it wont look right or it's too much lift for a 3.0 or my ride quality will be shot, I don't mine your opinions, just post up and give it to me straight ALRIGH

p.s you guys could even post up your 2wd lifted rangers, but try to post the ones that got at least 5 or more inches. Thanks

My opinion is always to lift the truck to where whatever size tires you want will fit and look good. Too me it usually seems to be between 3-5 inches unless you really want some beastly tires. All personal opinion though really. As far as the 3.0, it should do any of that just fine depending on what kind of ride, handling, etc. you are willing to deal with.

----------

Oh, and any tires over 31" I would probably go with the 4:56.

okay I appreciate it, I don't do much offloading and my son is no longer here, But he wanted the look and I intend to give it to him, I wonder how the ranger would feel with the 4.10 or 4.56 in the rear over the stock 3.73, but yea I would like either 33s or 35s, I really don't know how much lift I need to fit these particular sizes underneath,

I have 3.73's on a 3.0 with 265/75/16(31.6x10.5) and it runs decent but could use a little more accel. With 33's or 35's I would think the 4.56's would be great especially with that Amount of lift. The 3.0 don't start moving till you hit about 3 grand and the higher gears would def help that out alot. Bru I just want to say I think it's awesome what your doing for your son and I know he would truly appreciate it! Your an inspiration for everyone here. Goodluck in your build man!

What size tires??? This with engine are both pretty much the determining factor in gearing. Amount of lift has nothing to do with how hard the engine works, tires and gearing do.

What Ranger has 4.56's stock???

Typically, 98+ coil-spring 2wd's on 35's have a 3" BL, 2.5" Spindle, and 2" spacer or coil and they usually have an aftermarket upper arm as well. I would go so far as to say 4.88 is what you should be looking at for 5's. 4.56 would be perfect for 33's and it would make the 35's very livable, not ideal, but very very livable compared to 4.10's and 35's.

i say 5 inches and 35s, and 4.56 it will help the 3.0 with power.

i think if you go much higher the trucks start to look top heavy without widening the stance which in california means you have to have fender flares. but if you go more than 5 inches up i say get some 1.5 inch wheel spacers to keep that aggresive stance.

5" is not enough to clear 35's on a stock fender coil-spring truck.

The amount of money out for 4 wheel spacers that large just about equals the price of new wheels with proper backspacing.

What Ranger has 4.56's stock??? Although Beef08 has answered this, I scored 2- 5.0 from explorers', but could only use 1 of them as it was the same year as my ranger, and that keeps it legal here in Cali, The other is sitting in my garage and Another member could use it if they came and picked it up, It has the engine harness/computer/everything that it takes to do the swap, it's just from a 98'

Whoowahhhh! man you are starting make my son really happy with this info, I appreciate your input, I scored 4 rangers which are all sitting on my land, and here is the kicker, They are newer style rangers Anyways one of them was very heavenly modded and the RCD lift on it is going to Stu (aka beef) and he can take the 4.56 and I will go to the yard and get the other 4.56 that my In-Law said they pulled for me

So this must be a 2wd cant wait to open the link.

Thanks for the info Stu Oh yea and I do have a 5.0, I would have to be crazy not to follow up on that, It's already done, I figured 5.0 a fat rear end lol, that will get this baby moving. Here is the kicker though, My ford mechanic friend is going to go ahead and help me switch the cab over to the 4x4 frame, Than I will drop the 5.0 in their since it is already machine shop ready.

Now you are absolutely right, and I do have the 2010 newer style flares I cant wait to put on, This is really making the old guy emotional talking about the truck and feeling the spirit of my son, I am so thankful to all the members and those who come to the board for the first time and still have a heart to say lets get it done for Thai, Thanks guys and I look forward to seeing Bru/Stu/Rstangboi with some of the baddest lifted Rangers on the West Coast "Nor-Cal Rangers"

for the 3.0...the more gearing the better.

for 35's im gunna tell you that with our motors 4.88's should be a minimum. my trucks a dog...

4.56's and 33's would be fine.

but for my setup right now....id prefer to have 5.13's instead of my 4.88's
