Default leaf spring swap?

I've heard that you can take the leaf springs out of an older model explorer and put them in a ranger and it will lift it 2" because explorer leafs are 2" bigger or something like that.
I was wondering if this was true. and if thats all you do
I've also heard of people using "chevy lift springs" not exactly sure...
Please help me out.

Putting the expo on top of the axle adds lifts. easier way is to get a AAL. The chevy 64 swap is almost the same as the expo but you have to move your perches on the frams
