Default prekey with AAL?

well today i had an idea to do a prekey to my truck and AAL in the back instead of shackles... any ideas? has it been done before? just something i would honestly want to do to my truck. AAL are cheap and torsion bar keys from a 98-07 ranger from a junkyard would be cheap too for a couple inches of lift to complete the look with 31's

the aal and the shackles are roughly the same price.....

but to answer your question.. yes, an aal will suffice instead of shackles. you just dont gain as much as you would if you installed the shackles.

BUUUT... if you're already going to rob the keys out of a 98-03 or whatever, why dont you just get the factory blocks and u-bolts off the rear axle and call it a day? cheap and easy.

true the AAL is a fabtech 2'' AAL that i found online... also i would have to get longer shocks wouldn't I?? here's another point though the factory blocks off an older ranger are only a inch taller so taking mine out and installing those would only add a inch... but cranking the Tbars would almost make it dead level wouldn't it or pretty dang close

I dont have an answer but i have been looking in to prekey as well. I know everyone always says that their bad news but Im also looking to give my ride a little hight and some bigger tires. And a superlift or a bodylift will probably not be in the cards for me for a very long time. ive seen a ranger with a prekey and some shackles...it looked really good. But seeing as how this is my daily driver and one and only car I really dont want to do anything that will cause to much stress or do any damage.

...haha sorry i cant help, but if you do it let me know how it works out for ya!

It's not the Prekeys that are the bad news--it's the aftermarket re-indexed keys that you want to stay away from. Prekey is the BEST option for you--they're Ford parts.
