Body lift cheaper then suspension

I put a Summit 98-2000 body lift on my 05 will modifications to the fuel filler neck. The one in the kit was to small.

Here is what we came up with on my 05 for the fuel neck. We cut the hose in half then went to lowes and got a 4.5" long pipe threaded on both ends. it is 1" in diameter. Cost like 2 dollars
[/B]

Now when on the truck we pushed it all the way till it was touching the stock metal part that comes down and then put the hose clamp right at the edge of the pipe. There is still at least 1.5" after the hose clam on the tank side

I've heard with body lifts, that you have to raise the bumpers and there will be a gap between the bed and the frame at the rear wheels. Is this true?

Yes that is true, but the brackets for the bumpers come with the kit and you can hide the gaps between the bed and frame rails. There is a how-to on here IIRC.

I have an extra filler tube extension I can send you when you get back as well. I had a spare in my body lift kit.

I got the gap guards from summit racing the same time as my lift kit. It was 78.00 for all the gap guards

80 dollars for gap guards is crazy.

Easier and cheaper to make your own for around 15 bucks.

Sounds good. Thanks for all the good info. Where in VA are you at ranger5572? Clinton - I might have to hit you up for that filler neck extension.

hey i'm lookin to lift my truck and i can't afford a suspension lift either. but i'm wonderin how much more clearance i'll get from a body lift? i don't do any rock crawlin or anything, but some of the places i go have some fairly deep ruts. i need to try to protect my truck as best i can. just was wondering if the body lift would make enough difference
