Default 3" lift - last min check

OK, so I got my lift from summit and now I am going to get tires this weekend...But have a few questions;

1 - What do you reccommend for a spacer between the roll bar and frame? Will steel work or does it need to have some flex?

2 - I am fairly mechanical and would like to attempt with help of 17yr old brother and gf. They take good directions but arent very mechanical... Bad idea?

3 - Anything else I am missing?

Spacer between frame. The kit will have extra 3" blocks use some of them.

17yr old brother and g/f as long as they can lift some weight they should work.

Other items:

PB Blaster
torch for heating bolts
big enough pipe wrench for body mounts.
drill to drill out front body mounts.

PB blaster? Am I half asleep or just not cluing in yet.

I will be using track jacks to help with lift also so it will be all good. Can also call more 17yr olds over if needed...lol

But I have rest.. I alreday loosened and tightened the bed bolts at work. So shouldn't need any extra torx....

Thanks stl

me and my girlfriend did the bed ourselves, shes not mechanically inclined at all

also, you should have a torque wrench on hand. I got mine at lowe's, its a 1/2" drive Kobalt that goes to 250 ft./lbs. for $95.00

I think all bolts need to be 55 ft./lbs. with the exception of the steering extension which I believe it 33 ft./lbs.

Ya, I was planning on torch but usually will spray with something like pb few hours prior and sometimes they snap off by hand without heat...
Thanks guys.
Went to huge Ford Mustang meet so has to wait until next weekend.

I would spray the cab bolts down 2-3 days before doing the lift. Then day of lift if your having trouble heat them up.

Kewl. Thanks for the link. I think I remeber you posting this. But since I just had a 2wd plain Jane truck. I never read much of the lift, tires, 4x4 etc. Threads.

But really have a lot a research to do now. We are in CO. Have taken 400 pics already.
