Old School lol
I would like to lift my truck to a good size and make it able to mabye go on the beach. Its a 2wd 1988 Ranger XLT. Ive never lifted anything and have NO IDEA how to do it lmao. Any advice on which suspension to get and if I should get a body lift or regular suspension. Also anything else like fender flares that you think might look good. Im thinking a 6" would be about good.

You can take your truck as is on the beach, just remember to air down and don't gun it. There are lots of options for your truck lift wise out there.

No worries, take some air out of your tires for a wider contact patch (air down), and don't floor it (gun it) from a stand still or else you will dig in and get stuck.

Look at the procomp, skyjacker and superlift. The first few lifts on that page are high performance lifts made for hitting the dunes and such.

i looked at the skyjacker and really liked one but its like 1K and i cant get that till i finish high school this year.

If you want 6" of lift you're going to have to save up for one of the suspension lifts. And to add to what Justin said about airing down on sand - I keep a small, cigarette lighter powered air compressor in my truck. It takes a long time to fill a tire compared to a real" compressor but it takes up very little space.

Well if it was me, for ANY suspension lift i would stick with either Skyjacker or James Duff... those are the ONLY lift kits i'll buy anymore. But if ya look around you can find em for decent prices. Just depends on how much flex ya want outta of em, the only difference between a skyjacker 4" and 6" lift is a bolt hole on the same drop bracket and the different coil spring. they give ya the same brackets for the two lifts just have to put a bolt in a different hole depending on if its a 4" or 6".

yup, so if ya do buy the skyjacker 4" all ya gotta do to change it to a 6" is buy new coil springs, and move the bolts down to the next hole. PLUS, skyjacker is a hell of a good lift kit! Grantid that is for 4x4 but i don't see why the 2wd would be any different if its still a TTB system.
