Really the only negative effect will be premature wear. All springs are going to wear out eventually, cranking the bars may speed up the process a bit. It seems like the majority of Ranger owners who wheel crank the bars, so I wouldn't worry about it. And I don't think anyone can give you an exact rate at which the bars will wear out anyway. I have mine cranked about 1.5", and I have not noticed a difference in ride quality, although some say the ride is stiffer. I have put about 10,000 miles on my truck since I've adjusted the bars, and never needed an alignment, and my tires are wearing normally.
