i have a 2.5L and i would like to get a 5.5 inch suspension lift on some 31's or 32's. My question is, will the engine have any problems since it will be on bigger tires and lifted?

no it should not i am running 17s and it has problems at all the speedomiter is just wrong

IMHO, the engine will not have any problems, but consider re-gearing the rear end. You will really feel the sluggishness when getting on the freeway. A quick fix might be adding a header, less restrictive exhaust and air intake.

Yeah the 5.5 inch lift is a bit too much for me. I'm just going to leave it stock height for now and get some bigger tires.

i lifted my truck 5.5 inches and put 32's under it. i added a cold air intake and a cat back exhaust and it still feels sluggish. I have the 4L so i highly recommend regearing if your lifting it that high. Look into how much it'll cost you to regear before you lift also. theres always things that add up once its all said and done. My ball joints are gone right now....
