'96 Splash lift
Several things. Currently have 235/75/15 (28.9") tires on my truck (stock was 235/60, 26.1"). It has the lean, enough to scrub on speedbumps, and needs tires. As it is a splash, I understand it sits ~1" lower than a regular ranger.
I want it taller, but not like, all lifted. If i were to put 1 1/2" lift coils on there, would it effectively lift the truck 2 1/2"?
Also, i need new tires. I have the open 7.5/3.73 diff, and get good torque with the 235/75, only use 5th when the speedo hits over 70. I like the idea of a 245/70 (29.1").
Is this a reasonable combo? I want it to look proportionate. Anyone have a picture of this combo, or other/better suggestions?
Thanks!

You may be right about actually gaining 2.5". That would be interesting to see. 245/70 would be fine with a 3.73. Not sure what your rpms would be but thats easy enough to look up. I run 235/75/15 on my leveling coils. Let me see if I have a picture before the add a leaf and body lift for you.
The second picture is next to a stock ranger on 225/70/14. 235/75 with leveling coils is a good look. I think I have a picture before the leveling coils with just the tires somewhere.

Re: '96 Splash lift
Thanks for the reply and pictures. Your truck looks good, I like the look with the 235/75s and levelers. Just got the truck back from the bodyshop so next step will be the rough country levelers, then I'll go for some tires. Tread on current tires is great but truck must have sat for a while as they are pretty dry rotted.
Minor mistake in my first post, the 29.1" tires are 255/70/15. No matter.
Changing direction a little, would I feel a difference in the torque if I were to go to 30s or 31s? Engine is a fresh rebuild with about 3500 miles and pulls strong on the 235/75s. I may consider a slightly larger tire but I don't want to lose the low end the truck has now. Hard to imagine how it would pull with the stock 235/60s. Must have wound up pretty quick.

I ran 31's for about a week. I went right from 225/70/14's to 31's. Will you notice yes. Was your truck ever a rocket? No.

Re: '96 Splash lift
That is a big jump. What engine and gearing were you running and why did you only run the 31s for such a short period? With the 29s and 3.73s it will bark the tires and pull hard uphill. No rocket for sure but it goes plenty fast. OD/fifth gear is useless until the speedo hits 70 (roughly 78 mph).
I like the look and performance of the 235/75s but some bfg at 31s look tasty.

3.55 on a 4.0 I couldnt burn tire with the 31's but it will roast the 235's. I bought them on steel wheels for $100, sold them for $250.
Edit: I had a set of BFG AT's on crager s8's. The rims were spanked and so was one of the tires. But hey made a few bucks.

Re: '96 Splash lift
Thanks for the info. I may step up to a 30 or 31", no telling until I get levelers on. Speaking of, what type (inexpensive) shock works well with the leveling springs?
Here is my truck now, back is low because it has a yard of mulch and a bunch of wood in it. Front has about 2-3" between the tire and well liner.

Re: '96 Splash lift
Ordered the rough country levelers today. We will see how that works with the 235/75/15s. Do I need different shocks to go from splash coils to levelers?

Post a picture when you're done and take a measurement before and after so we can find out how much lift it gives the splash

Re: '96 Splash lift
Will do. The Chilton says use new nuts, and get an alignment. Are these necessary? I have the time to do it this afternoon but not if I have to chase down parts or it is rendered unusable due to a positive camber issue. (Dont have the cash now for an align). Camber is pretty negative already, so I feel it will be fine but was curious if the experienced have any tips.

Yes and yes. Very. I'd wait until you can get camber bolts and an alignment. Literally my truck was screeching turning on the way for an alignment

Re: '96 Splash lift
Got into it a bit, spring insulators were rotted. Ordered a new pair from the only Ford dealership in town. Asked the dude about the nuts and bolts...$15 per nut and $115 per bolt. He said they were case hardened and he personally had done a number of rangers without replacing the nuts. So I'm on the fence there.
Got a good socket and 3/4" ratchet that will fit the bolt, but can't get good purchase on the nut. Have a shorty offset open end wrench that fits but I am afraid of rounding off the nut. Any tips? Parts will be in Tuesday.
Alignment I can swing. Updates later.
29" to the top of the wheel arch with 235/75s.

What bolts are you talking about? Camber bolts? I paid 40 for the pair of mine and I got moog ones. And if your talking about the bolt on the bottom of the coil spring, cut the spring put an impact to it
