Default Lift Springs vs. Chevy 63's

I'm looking for 4" of rear suspension lift to match a link set up that I'm installing to my SAS up front.

As far as I know, 63's will allow for a lot more suspension travel and smoother on-road performance; but I know a few toyota guys who are replacing there worn out 63's after every other rock crawling trip they go out on.

This is going to be a daily driven vehicle, so I need the springs to last a lot longer than just the 3 or 4 hardcore wheeling trips I will go on each year. I also want to be able to haul a full bed of wood, lumber or hay.

Anyone with ranger lift springs or a 63 swap have an opinion on the matter? Thanks

Skyjacker has 4" and 6" lift springs. Or you could call Deaver and tell them your plans and they could recommend a setup.

"Lets first clarify that there isn't a 63-inch Chevy leaf spring. The fullsize Chevy truck (from 1973-1999) came with either 54-Inch, 56-inch or 64-Inch leaf springs."

Well there sure is a whole lot of aftermarket support for something that doesn't exist. Even the big wigs at RuffStuff, TrailGear and Marlin are selling products for 63's.

I have heard them called 63's, 64's chevy half tons, whatever... but you get the point. Thanks for the link! I'll do some reading.

i've had 64" chevy leafs in my truck for 3 years now. with plenty of abuse on em and I have zero need to replace them. leafs springs are leaf springs, unless they were bad when those yota guys installed em, or they installed em in such a way they dont work right there should be zero reason to replace them.

I absolutely love the chevy leafs, best mod ive done by far. super smooth and tons of articulation.

Hows the articulation with regards to weight capacity and how much if you know? I could probably get Scott over at Deaver to beef up the spring pack for me but I am curious.

Well I mean they're half ton springs, so weight capacity should be more.

If you get ones off a 4x4 it will be even better, they have an extra leaf vs the 2wd.

My shocks are limiting my articulation so I can't say how far is can go till I get longer shocks. But it's pretty great.

Good point there, I actually found a guy who is willing to give me a set of chevy springs for free... can't really beat that price.
