Default Long Travel Rangers

I'm planning on getting a 2wd drive ranger here soon and figured i should get a little more knowledge under my belt before i dive in. What long travel kit are you using and how does it perform? Which rangers are the best candidates(xlt,edge,2.3/3.0/4.0)? Are the older rangers with the i beam better or worse than the new a arm ones(with long travel sus)? Thanks for any help

I know they are not cheap. I've looked into it quite a bit. I just wanted to hear from people who already had LT kits installed and how they liked them before i went out and bought one since im gonna be spending a few grand.

If you already have a ranger use what you have..
I have a 1986, caged bumper to bumper, all built by myself and my dad. It has the 2.3l motor with some minor mods and it works good. Suspension and shock valving is everything in the dezert.. Motor doesn't really matter until you have really dialed in suspension or large travel #'s.
