Default Will jeep cherokee shocks fit a lifted ranger?

I just lifted my Mazda about 3 inches in the front with torsion keys and 2.5 in the back with shackles. I can't find shocks to fit the front has anyone ran jeep cherokee shocks up front? They're the only ones that seem to have the same mounts and will fit with my measurements. My stock shocks are maxed out right now at 18 inches extended

Look at Rancho RS5000's. They have shocks for stock height and lifted heights, front and rear

Stopped reading here. Toss the keys. Then come back after you have a proper lift.

Your problem isn't that your stock shocks are too short, it's that you've adjusted your stock suspension way beyond what it was meant for by using those aftermarket keys.

Your cv and balljoint angles are probably pretty shitty. Back your keys down. The stock suspension is only good for 1.5-2" or so of adjustment. And that's pushing it.

If you want an actual lift, look into a body lift or the 4" superlift (4wd) or lift spindles (2wd).

Yea I already looked at them. The front shocks extended length is 19.25 and my shocks are currently extended 18 inches so I'm looking for more travel then that. Rancho makes rs5000 shocks for the Cherokee that have the stud top mount and bar pin lower mount with 23.75 extended length and 14 collapsed

This is treating a symptom, not the problem.

I know what I did with torsion keys. Either way I need longer shocks. All I would like to know is if anyone has any shocks they've used on they're ranger or if they've used shocks for a jeep. I'm not the only one to ever use torsion keys. I'd rather gain actual ground clearance then a body lift which is mere looks. But again this is about shocks not how I lifted my truck. Thanks

no. people dont use jeep shocks on a ranger. You can buy shocks from pretty much anyone in the right length and mounting style. Google.

keep in mind that getting a longer shock will increase the extended length, but it will also increase the collapsed length.... so when you bottom that new shock out it wont have anywhere to go and you risk either bending the shaft, blowing out the top mount, or just generally wrecking your shock....

This thread is about you not being able to find "longer shocks" because you did something to your truck that you shouldn't have.

No, you're not the first, nor the last, person to be suckered in by aftermarket keys. I was hoping you'd realize your mistake and save yourself a lot of wasted time and money replacing all the shit you're gonna tear up. But, judging by your response, it looks like you're gonna have to learn that part the hard way.

Ground clearance is achieved by larger tires. Large tires are made possible by some sort of PROPER lift.

When I did this lift I knew what I was getting into. I replaced my upper ball joints with new greeasable ones, replaced my tie rod ends, as well as my sway bar linkages.

I made sure when I did my lift not to over crank my bars and give myself extremely bad angles. Are my angles to spec no but are they so bad as to tear parts up like it's nothing no. I'm not going to beat the shit out of my truck and not take care of it. If something wears out it wears out and I'll replace it because I know what I did.

After looking into spindles I wasn't comfortable with all the pictures and forums I had seen on guys tires falling off and everything else. I also do not want to have my front tires stick out wider than the rear and will not run spacers. Thanks for the concern but all I would like to know is shock lengths.

Well that's just retarded. You're even 2wd and you're running keys. Lift spindles are perfectly fine when you treat them properly.

Also, got a kick out of "will not run spacers" but keys are just fine. Lol

If you're bound and determined to continue down this road, then your best bet is to jack up the truck and determine your extended/collapsed lengths (sound like you may have attempted this) and then start looking at manufacturers websites for similar numbers. Perhaps a company like fox or king that makes non-vehicle specific shocks will have something. Although, the upper stud mount will likely be an issue. Nobody on here is gonna have a "here, use this shock" answer as very few members run keys ( *cough* because they're trash *cough*).

OK. So keys get alot of hate. In reality though if used within the suspension limits they aren't a big deal. I ran some for at least a year at on point.

Now for the shocks though. Technically longer shocks age not needed since you aren't really altering the travel of the suspension. All that was done was increase the torsion load on the bar and gain "lift".

To the OP if you really feel you need new shocks, the rancho makes a shock for rangers that are good for 1-2 lift. They will work for you.

This is true. The re-indexed keys are essentially the same thing as adjusting the stock keys. However, people rarely stop while they are ahead and end up adding more preload with the adjustment bolts. Then you're riding at full drop all the time, which puts above average strain on everything.

Not saying they can't be bad, but not as bad as everybody makes them out. They helped with some saggy bars I had once upon a time.

This is 100% true, but cranking the stock keys will do the exact same thing.... that's why keys are the most useless money wasters there are lol.
