Re: Superlift with coilover
Interesting thread. I'm probably going to double lift Mt truck at some point so the info here is good to have.

saw this too late and I just ordered superlift shocks. only ones I could find for 5-6" of lift in the rear that were under $100 each.
----------
will post some pictures in the next few days but I am hoping to get started on the lift tomorrow if I get enough time.

Re: Superlift with coilover
I finally got around to starting my lift and ran into a little bit of a problem. Got everything torn down and dropped the axle and when I was putting the front A arm drop bracket on I found that it doesn't fit do to damage to the oem cross section. Need to get a set of torches and bend it back straight before it will fit. Set me back a ways but hopefully it will be back on the ground before the weekend is over.

It may not be due to damage
Every lift I have installed on a ranger (8 kits now) has needed the frame pockets opened up slightly.
This is due the the a arms being torqued to fit.
All you need is a long peice of 5/8s or so all thread a few nuts and washers and you can open the pocket right back up.
Slide the threaded rod through one hole, then slide on a washer 2 nuts and another washer then slide through the other a arm hole. Tighten the nuts against the inside of the a arm pocket and it will flare the pocket back open.
I don't recommend trying to hear the frame.

Re: Superlift with coilover
My situation is definately due to damage. As seen better is this photo. I got the drop bracket up in place but it bottoms out where the metal in pushed out, the holes don't line out when the two parts come in contact

Re: Superlift with coilover
I found a mapp gas/oxygen torch set up at home depot for $65 and it had plenty of heat to get that spot hot enough to bend it back into shape. Took a bit of time due to the small flame tip but plenty of heat when turned up high. Used a full bottle of oxy doing it too. Should have it back on the ground tomorrow if the storm moving into the northwest isn't too bad

Re: Superlift with coilover
ok I have everything installed for the coilover accept for the limiting straps that I have to repair some of the threads on before installing. I have been looking around at all the build threads and cannot seem to find anyone that has pictures of doing this lift with limiting straps. can anyone that has done this send me pictures so I can get ideas of where to mount them. I was thinking about bolting it to the side bolt for the lower shock bracket then drilling a whole in the block just behind where the OEM bump stop was that gets cut off and bolting it in there, I don't see that this would be a problem at all but I like having other ideas as well before settling. but just need to bleed the brakes then install the limit straps and the truck will be operational again. then I will be installing the rear skyjacker 6" lift springs I got next week.

Re: Superlift with coilover
Mine are close to Casey's except I have the tab welded to my lower arm and the clevis mounted to the frame.
Kinda like this picture.

Re: Superlift with coilover
thanks for the pictures. I like the idea of having the tab welded on to the frame like you have camodown. gonna do it the way I have in my head for now, very similar to what vista4.0 has going on without the bracket for the threaded portion and just bolting it up next the the old bump stops, ill post pics. then maybe fab up something better at work later if needed. my welder little welder at home isn't quite good enough for doing work like that.

I don't run a sway bar so the adjustable clevis is in the sway bar end link location on mine. Just a FYI

Re: Superlift with coilover
Don't use sway bar either. Took them off front and back when I started going on mountain trails all the time.
I didn't get around to finishing it up today due to family stuff but hoping tomorrow after work I will get time to finish it

Re: Superlift with coilover
Finally got it finished! Took much longer than I expected but not byet too much. After all the little things that came up along the way I'm pretty happy with it. Still gotta lift the back, I have air lift shocks in the rear that are maxed out to make it look close to level. The front feels great the rear is still as hell with those shocks aired up so much.
Pics of limiting straps, then before and after. Think I got about 4" of lift over where I was with torsion bars cranked giving about 1.5" so total 5.5" as advertised. Will take measurements tomorrow to get before and after readings for actual lift amount.
