2002 Ford Ranger body lift, which kit?
I have researched and searched and looked into body lifts stuff and I read a post on here that I think confused me
( Body Lift 3” – Tech Info Extravaganza ). I have a 2002 ford ranger 4x4 with extended cab flare side and I don't know which kit to get. A lot of people get the 98 kits to work on all Rangers and because it's cheaper by $100, you just have to get a few things at the hardware store.
Do I need this kit? Will it give me everything i need, just not be worth it? http://m.summitracing.com/parts/pra-pa70033
Or this 98 kit that is $100 cheaper and have to spend a couple of dollars getting some hardware? If so, what hardware would I need?
http://m.summitracing.com/parts/sum-7888300
Thanks in advance, and I'm new to this forum.

You have a nice Ranger, get the kit that you know is listed for your truck.

I was gonna do that, just didn't know if I could save some money or not. I would get the super lift, but I want to get wheels and tires and a few other things.

Re: 2002 Ford Ranger body lift, which kit?
The money you may save by purchasing the kit not intended for your truck, may result in a loss of time equal to or greater than the money saved in lost wages.
What I mean by this is I would work over time or side jobs to make extra money doing what I am good at. this should net me more cash than I could save by trying to force a kit that is not intended for my truck to work.
The end result will be better. and you will be less frustrated in the end because you didn't listen to that guy that took a short cut that worked on his truck yet may not work on yours.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. I'm gonna get the kit that is for my truck and try to get it on within the next month. I'll post pics for you guys, or my make a thread of my body lift install experience.

My body lift just came in, my wheels are on the way and all that's left is to decide on some 33x12.50's! I'm excited. Might could have it all done this weekend! Thanks to the guys who have helped and assisted in this thread or my other threads in any and every way. I appreciate it. I'll post pics soon 😜

Re: 2002 Ford Ranger body lift, which kit?
Some people should shut the fuck up when they don't know what they're talking about.
For anybody else viewing this thread who may be asking the same question. Either kit will work fine. After 1998, Rangers barely changed and the parts that make up the body lift kits will fit them all.
Even if you buy the "correct" kit, you still may find minor issues with part fitment. I bought the Peformance Accessories kit, but the two fuel filler extensions included in the kit were too small for my filler neck. I had to run to the hardware store in order to find a piece of pipe that was the correct size.

I second that motion. Mine was the 98-00 summit kit.

Where were you when the OP was asking for help?
Not everyone here wants a dollar store hack job done to their truck.
You shouldn't be jealous because the OP can afford to buy the correct parts for his truck and didn't want to be the fool looking for parts to rig his truck at a home repair center.
That is great that the older kit worked for you and your truck, yet you had the chance to help him and tell him exactly what wouldn't work.
Yet the forums were silent for days for the OP's question.
You have some serious anger issues and I highly suggest you take your medication and increase your therapy sessions.
What I wrote in no way deserved the response I got from you.

But if you actually paid attention on the forums you would know 98+ body lifts are identical... no change.. none..

Well if the kits were identical there would be no need to run to the parts store to buy a none barbed pipe fitting that may slip off.
You people are too lazy to help when asked, yet your all so smart and willing to pounce on anyone that does offer help that does not include the same type of crappy work you idiots have done to your trucks.
Enjoy your ignorance, with your heads so far up your asses I bet you can still smell what you had for dinner two nights ago.

Yet people have done the correct kit and yet still need to run to the hardware store... It's hit or miss. Both kits have the same stuff in them... 90% of the time it is the filler neck extension that needs attention from a hardware store.
I'd also like to see where I have failed to help when I catch the thread. I hop on here and look at some of the threads. If I see something I can help on I say something. But me and my crappy truck will let you offer all the information.
