My truck is rust free, but I still struggled with the cab bolts because Ford uses Loctite to keep them from vibrating loose, and that makes them difficult to remove. Some guys have success with having a friend crawl under the truck and hold the metal plate under the bushing with a pair of channel locks while they crank on the bolts from above. I did my body lift by myself, so I had to resort to heating the bushings up with a propane torch in order to melt the Loctite and get the bolts out. Once they were hot I was able to just spin the bolts right out with an electric impact.[/QUOTE] Nope, I've got 2 friends helping and one of them has installed a body lift before. And I'm aware that I'm probably going to have a little rust because I have some under the cab and bed. It was a Kentucky truck

How do I keep the front bushings (core support) from spinning around while I'm trying to take the bolts out? I'm doing this by myself and it's hard.

that's what I've been trying, but no cigar. Maybe I'm not locking them right or something.. I had my dad sit on the core support and I channel locked and still spun..

I've got a torch, would that work? I used the torch on the main cab bolts , haven't tried up front yet ..

If I remember correctly, the impact spun the bolt and bushing for a few seconds even after being heated. Didn't take long though before the bolt finally came out. Go buy yourself a decent impact to make life easier.

I Have a crappy electric impact, so it wouldn't be bad to get one, but I have a map/ gas torch. I got the driver side front bolt broke loose and backed out, this dang passenger side is going to kill me, and all my friends are busy. Anyone in the area of Chattanooga?

Got it out, now what do I drill out with 1/2 bit? What came off with the bolt?

Maybe someone else will chime in but I think you just take that bit straight through the bushings. It's a been awhile since I did it.

Look through the instructions, I believe you needed to drill through the captive nut.

If you spun that out you may have to come up with a thick fender washer.

Again the instructions should clear this up. I only vaguely remember browsing through them.

The second picture you posted is the captive nut you will have to drill through.

The body mount bushing should be large enough for the new bolt.
