You shouldn't have to take the shock out. Are you replacing them? They don't get in the way when you install spindles

Re: 2008 2wd front end spindle lift help please
Whoa......
Forgive the ignorance....
Do you guys mean for me to cut the threaded post coming out of the shock itself?
Shock tower?
My learning takes place on the fly......
Dunno if it's too repetitious...
BUT BIG THANKS ANYWAYS!!!!

On the new shock there should be a little square part at the top of the stud to hold it with vise grips.

Re: 2008 2wd front end spindle lift help please
Neeext....
Ratchet strap did the trick!!!
Just need to know if this angle is typical?
And if it is the reason turning the spindle is REALLY TOUGH????
I want to believe that once its ready for a wheel and I let it settle on the ground it will look better?
This freaks me out other wise!
And ya guys... I trimmed

That angle is fine. With the truck jacked up like that, the suspension is at full drop. It won't sit like that once the truck is holding its own weight.
Also normal for the spindle to be a little stiff if you try to turn it by hand.

That's because the weight of the truck isn't pushing up on the coil spring. Put your floor Jack under the lower control arm instead of the frame and that will make things prettier and easier.

Re: 2008 2wd front end spindle lift help please
Big thanks fellas!
A little stiff is one thing, this mufuddah is HARD to move...
I have not cottered the lower castle nut on the lower ball yet, as I just spun it to hold the spindle whilst ratcheting.
Thinking that may also be contributing? Maybe back it off a turn or two until barely able to insert cotter pin?

Well the spindle is resting up against the coil bucket/frame and the force of the coil spring is wedging it in there with hundreds of pounds of force. If you Jack it up from the lower arm the spindle will rotate pretty freely

Negative. You want the castle nut to be torqued down properly. I don't remember the exact torque spec off the top of my head, but it's fairly substantial.
It's ok if it's hard to turn. The steering rack is going to apply a lot more force than you, and the ball joints will settle in as you drive it.
