Default Questions w/Fabtech 5.5"

Go ahead and let the cat out of the bag...I have an opportunity to hopefully score a Fabtech Ultimate 5.5" for around $450 minus the blocks in the rear. I have a few questions with this. First, I have to run wheels with a min of 3.75" BS correct? And also if I just say scrap the blocks, and go with some Chevy Bel-Tech's does anyone know how close to level I would be or possibly with a 2" AAL? I'm just beginning the research on this project for the most part, so any help is greatly appreciated. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Oh, the truck is a '99 xlt 2wd 3.0. Thanks.

Check out mikes truck.(trigger01) I don't think he is very active on here though. I also believe alon is spindle lifted too. Iirc fabtech spindles are known notoriously for failure. That's all the info I know on them seeing that I've never had a need for them since I'm 4x4.

Yeah i've heard the same about the failure, but for about 1/3 the price for the coils, UCAs, Shocks, I think I could replace the spindles down the road haha

Yeah, its Fabtech, but I'm just calling it a Fagtech since their kits are somewhat over rated....probably the only reason I'm considering it is because of the deal I'm getting

I'm pretty sure I have seen pics of his truck, but not positive...the main thing I was wondering was about the backspacing. B/c I am pretty sure my Alcoas sit too far back in the wheel well for this kit

I have heard people say yes and no on the backspacing for fabtech spindles.

FYI, i never had a problem with my spindles.

For the rear, with 5.5 up front, you will probably want the beltech, AAL and block to bring it up level.

Ok, so I'll need all three to get it close to level? And I guess I should probably go ahead and order the new wheels to have for when I put the lift on to be safe. And thanks for the input

Some have trouble with them, some don't. If you do any heavy wheeling, I wouldn't suggest them, but if you are mostly on the road I wouldn't worry about it.....as far as what is wrong with them some have broken/bent them. Iirc you can get some Doeschtech (sp?) spindles off of ebay for ~350

I've seen plenty that haven't had any problems with the Fabtech's...and mine will be mostly for looks as well since I'm in college now...a little mud every now and then but pretty much no jumping random stuff anymore since I've pretty much grown out of that

Spindles are just cast iron, not really much you can change between the brands unless you go to some fully fabbed ones like camburg. I wheeled mine hard and the guy with my old spindles beats his up pretty good with no probs. Now if you are going to go start jumping your truck...yes they will eventually break. I ran the doetsch brand, picked them up for $300 4 years ago or so from www.sporttrucksuspension.com
