Default AAL and keep same ride height???

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 and I was looking to keep the rear end at the same height. I was looking into doing an ADD-A-LEAF but I don't want it to lift the rear end of my truck anymore than it is(I want the same height in the back if not squatting). I noticed there is a block that rides between the leaf springs and the axle, I was wondering if I could remove that and just have the AAL sitting on the axle? Or could I remove that block and put like a 1-1.5" lift block in it's place(since the height of the OEM block is around 2")?

yes you can take the block out and install the AAL and it will probably sit exactly where it sits now

Would I need a shorter center pin bolt if I do that?

I'm not sure. I imagine you won't but I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.

I'm not exactly clear on this? You want the rear of your truck to stay the same height. So why not just leave it alone? Are you doing this for better load handling? If so forget the add a leaf and get some of these. http://www.monroe.com/en-US/catalog/e-Catalog/58618 they dont affect unloaded ride height and perform very well. ive been using them for a few years now. No complaints.

Most AAL s claim to add 1.5-2" (actual results may vary), so if you remove that block (which is 2.5" tall) you should sit slightly lower than you do now, but with a stiffer ride.

You can just remove the block. All you need is a set of new, and shorter, u bolts. When I swapped to explorer springs there was no modification needed to either the spring perch or the center pin.

The explorer springs are another option too if you're lookin for increased capacity. They'll give you a little more lift though.

Yes, I'm trying to get better load handling, that's why I figured I could do an AAL, I just don't want anymore lift because I don't want to crank the TBARS anymore than I have to, to make a level ride.
