Default Help! Body Lift or Suspension Lift?

I need help deciding on a lift for my 2004 Ford Ranger 2WD XLT Supercab.
I've never personally lifted a truck or anything I'm more of the interior of the truck kinda guy.

1.) I don't have a great deal of exp. (I have a little knowledge)
2.) I don't want to spend a great deal of my budget on a kit either suspension or body.

Any help with deciding which would be best (pro's vs. con's) would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

Well body lift will be the cheapest.

You can get the body lift from summitracing.com that fits a 1998-2000 ranger and it will work on your truck. I have one on my 2005

I just added a Performance Accesories 3" body lift to my 2000 XLT ext cab 4x4. It was pretty easy to do and it came with all the needed parts, extenders, hardware etc. The only thing I will warn you about is the instructions that come with it. They are pretty vauge as to where some stuff is and ther eis no pics at all to help you desipher them.

A body lift would be the way to go first, it will give you some pretty good experience too, and get you a little more familiar with your truck. Do that first and see what you think.

Body lift Pros- Ability to have bigger tires, more room for flexing the tires, looks good and is fairly cheap.
Suspension Lift Pros-Ability to have bigger tres, more flex, lifts everything up higher off the ground, more ground clearance, actual performance,

Body Lift Cons-Only for looks, Inability to have front tow hooks, shows more undercarage
Suspension Lift Cons- More Expensive, Small chance of spindle failure(depends on if you are careless with the truck)

Body lifts run about $200, suspension lifts for 2wds are normaly $400 for spindles up front and $50 for rear shackle lift. 4wd suspension lifts are closer to $1500
