Default 03 ranger edge 4 inch lift question.

Hi guys this is my first post here.. by the way this site rocks... ok down to the nitty-gritty. I found a guy local selling me 4 inch spindles and 4 inch steel blocks for real cheap. Like 40 dollars cheap.. what shocks do I need for this setup and will this lift look good with 33s. Also other than blocks spindles and shocks what else is needed to complete lift.

Shocks aren't necessary for the front, but the rear will need longer shocks. Many guys use F250 shocks which are longer than the Ranger shocks.

My opinion though, I would do shackles and an add-a-leaf kit before I do blocks. Especially 4" blocks. Shackles give you 2", while an AAL will give you another 2", which makes up the 4" the block would give you.

Just to verify...your truck is 2WD right?

It would help if you could make a signature with all of your truck information outlined in it. Click: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/profi...=editsignature

I agree. OP, you already have a 2.5" (or 2.25", I forget) block in the rear from the factory. Do not stack them.

Thanks just edited my signature. Yes it is 2wd. So spindles leave factory blocks add shackles and aal with f250 rear shocks for a total 4 inch lift right. When I bought this truck it came with 275 45 20r rims and tires. I want to put 33s on her with some better rims.

Also make sure they are the correct spindles. The coil spring spindles are slightly different than the Edge spindles.

Grab a grinder and keep us posted!

I have a 4" spindle as well and since you have an edge you'll definitely be able to fit 33's no problem. For shocks get Bilstein 5100 shocks (f250 shocks)

Correct.

Just for visual reference, this was my truck with 4" spindles, cranked torsion bars, factory blocks, AAL, and Explorer leaf packs. Tires are 33x12.50's. Pretty much what you're after.

With 33 12.50 did you use spacers. Also what rims did you use backspace.

No spacers, rims are 15x10 with 4" backspacing.

33x10.5's don't look too bad either IMO. They are mounted on a set of 15x7 with 4" of backspacing. Don't look at the rear, it is before my AAL was installed.

If you add a body lift as well....

Of course if you do that then 35's look great....

Not bad. I did mine by myself in two days. The instructions are garbage, and the "pictures" they include were taken with a camera phone from the early 2000's.

I didn't even follow the spindle "how to"
It's all self explanatory.

If you are handy with a wrench it is not too difficult, just time consuming. A second pair of hands/eyes does not hurt but it can be done by yourself.

Yeah the pictures are horrible and from what I can tell all the engine stuff corresponds to the 4.0 SOHC. I've done two and with a second person each one took about 10 hours from start to finish.
