Lifted coil springs.
Hey everyone, I have a friend who is trying to sell me some lifting coil springs. So I was thinking that if I bought these, I would need to buy drop arm brackets and new shocks. I'm no expert in suspension by any means so could anyone tell me what else I would need to buy for the front. When I go through with that, I plan on getting a 2 inch block and bigger shocks for the rear. If there's anything else I would need to buy for the rear, let me know. I'm trying to clear enough to fit 32's one day. I would go with 33's but I do not wanna regear. Thanks everyone

What size are the lift could he's trying to sell you? Also what are they from? Are they actually for a ranger? On the 97- trucks 4 inch is sufficient for 33s I have a 4 inch rough country and I'm going with 32x11.50 if I keep 15s or I'm going to 18s with 285/65 which are almost 33x12.50.
----------
The rough country kit has 4 inch lift coils and 3 inch rear blocks with new shocks.

Off of a 91 ranger I believe but he claims that they will fit. But if they don't, then I won't buy them

91 has same suspension so they will fit. The rough country kit will clear 32s on factory wheels or 33s on offset wheels. The eBay link says 31s but when you get the actual kit from roughcountry the paperwork says 32s. I've had 33x12.50 with 15x10 rim on and no rub or anything.

Either a bastard pack or F-150 leafs.
97-03 F150 leaf springs will bolt right in.

Probably will ride stiff with 150 leafs.

Ohh okay. So if I did buy those coil springs, what would I need besides drop arm brackets and shocks? I'll probably end up going with the RC. lift and just do it right. But I'm not doing anything tomorrow or anything like that. I'm just going ahead and getting info to look back on when I'm ready.

Sounds like a cheap alternative as well.

Eh, I'm only 18. But wouldn't it keep it from sagging when I have heavy stuff in the bed?

A bastard pack is basically "packing" leafs together like an AAL.
And yeah the F150 coils will probably tighten up the back end (pun not intended) and you'll be able to haul heavier loads, but it will also lift the truck a couple inches, which has its benefits in several ways.
If you're not looking into increasing the spring rate then shackles will suffice.
On the solid axle trucks and the twin beam trucks, you can simply put a bigger (or longer) coil spring in there to lift it and not change the spring rate very much. Which is what I believe the RC Kit offers. I'm not sure exactly how it works with the twin beam Rangers, Casey will have to chime in on how his ride quality is.

Right but wouldn't bigger springs call for drop arm brackets and steering/ brake extensions and what not?

Usually with the Kit they will provide those for you if needed.
For example, body lifts come with shifter extensions, bumper brackets, etc.

Yeah then I would look into drop brackets and shocks. I can't tell you anything about the steering because you don't have rack and pinion, I wouldn't be able to answer that.
