2007 2wd lift questions
Alright, I have a 2007 XL 2wd. I am looking at doing a small lift, nothing too crazy. I've been searching, and reading, and searching some more. I feel like I'm slowly putting things together, but would like one collective area I can get some feedback from the 'experts'. Hope i'm not beating a dead horse too much.
First of all, for the fronts I'm really leaning towards the coil lift as opposed to a spindle lift. Idk, there seems to be a lot of debate on the pros/cons of pretty much all of the spindle brands, and really it worries me to use something other than Ford. Plus I don't really want to increase the track width. This leads me to coils. I see there are the Maxtrac and the Camburg lift coils - any others I'm missing? Out of the two i really seem to lean towards the Camburg. I know they cost a little more, but they are 2.5" vs 2" with the Maxtrac. Plus, from what I was seeing, they seem to be made by Eibach. I know in the car world Eibach is very highly regarded. Say I were to go Camburg 2.5" lift coils, is this all that is needed? I'll be doing Bilstein shocks at the same time. Assuming this, is there anything else required for a front lift? I know I'll need an alignment following the lift since it will change the suspension geometry. Am I going to be able to get the suspension lined up, or is this going to make it where the suspension wont be lined properly (even with alignment)? Does anybody know what lift I can realistically expect from the Camburg springs?
Rear Supsension, I don't seem to find as much information. I see Add-a-leaf, loose mention of a shackle lift, and I see Camburg lists a Deaver Leaf Spring. The Add-a-leaf seems to get pretty poor response from most, so I assume it can be crossed off the list. I see a 'shackle lift' referred to a lot, but never details on which one to get, where it can be bought, or even what kind of lift to expect. I'm probably the odd one out that likes the natural rake to a truck, so I'd like to stick with a similar lift to the front. Assuming I get a 2-2.5" lift in the front, can i expect the same on the rear? Do any other mods have to be made to allow for the shackles? The Deaver leaf springs state a 2.5" lift, so should be similar to that of the Camburg springs. How to the Deavers ride? I know they say not intended for heavy hauling or towing. I know I only have a 4 cylinder, but I don't want to severely (anymore so) limit my hauling/towing. I know that's comical coming from a 4 cylinder owner, but I still want to be able to use my truck as a truck. Other than that, I assume the Deaver leafs are a solid option? Again, does anyone know what realistic lift should be expected?
Sorry for the long winded post, just trying to get to the bottom of this so I can figure out which route to take.
