Default Anyone know a cheap way to lift a 05 2wd?

Hello, I have a 2wd 2005 ford ranger. Completely stock besides some newer tires and replacement parts. I'm looking to get a decent lift on it so I can fit at least 31's or something a tad smaller. If anyone knows a cheap way to lift it or a link to a lift kit that will work, it would be greatly appreciated.

2wd Rangers are real cheap to lift compared to their 4WD brothers
If you have coil spring suspension, I got you covered.
There's several ways to do it and I have done all of them. What's your price range?

I do have coil springs, and I'm trying to spend around 400-500 on the lift itself, to have money for bigger tires. I'm only 18 and trying to pay for college also haha

What is it exactly you a want?
To run 31 inch tires or to get a lift?
From your original post it sounded like you specifically want to run 31 inch tires or (anything smaller)
If thats your goal then you dont need to spend money on a lift kit.

Correct. If all you want is 31" tires then they will fit 100% stock.
If you take it off-road with those tires and stock suspension you will blow your truck apart. So that's where the lift comes into play.

Here's the rundown.

-$27 coil spacers (2 inch)
-$165 Maxtrac Lift coils (2 or 3 inch)
-$215 PA Body Lift (3 inch)
-$289 WNP spindles (4 inch)
-$330 Maxtrac Spindles (4 inch)
-$373 Doestch Spindles (3 inch)
-$1850 BTF mid-travel Kit (5.5 inch)
-$2000 Camburg mid-travel (5.5 inch)

Plus an alignment $40

I highly recommend the lift coils or spindles as the "best" options.

I didn't know I could run 31's on stock 2wd suspension. I talked to a buddy of mine that works at a discount tire shop and he was saying no way could I fit them without rubbing, so that's nice to hear I can from people that are actually doing it. But I want the higher look to my truck, so I want a lift, that way if i did take it off roading I wouldn't screw my truck up. What's the installation of the maxtrac lift coils like?

Now we're getting somewhere!

If you're inclined with a wrench, and you have all the proper tools, it's fairly simple to be honest. I've done the whole process 3 times so it may take you a bit longer to do it, probably 5 hours MAX.

I created this all about my installation process.
Coil springs 101

I included as much detail as possible to help as much as I can.
Of course you can always pay a shop to do it, but every shop other than the Ford dealership half-asses their jobs around here. I don't trust anyone to work on my truck.

So the Coils are the only thing (minus the alignment (I'm going to be doing this soon anyways, since I'm getting new tires)) that I would realistically need for this lift? It completely goes in and meshes well with all the existing stock parts? I don't need a huge lift (any at all really), but wouldn't mind to get the truck a little taller by 2 - 2.5 inches.

The Maxtrac coils are simply going to level the truck.

On my 2007 Regular Cab 2.3 my measurements were roughly 28 inches from the bottom tip of the rim to the fender.
