Default Torsion Bar Crank?

Looking in to lo lifting my 2000 Ranger and can't afford a suspension lift and a body lift won't get me the lift I want. So I figured I'd go a Torsion bar crank and bigger tires , but now that I'm looking into them I'm hearing don't do it cause it puts too much strain on the front end. Any thoughts or insight from people who've done it.

My torsion keys are all cranked up, no problems here. I also have a 3in body lift and I have plenty of clearance.

If you stick with your factory keys & crank them a 'normal amount' (2" maxxxxx) - you will be fine.

Guys have been doing this since the 1998 models came out.

You get into 'issues' when you crank aftermarket keys.

Are you trying to say it wont get you the 'type' of lift you want - or that you wont get you the 'amount' of lift (AKA - Height)?

If you're talking height: A bodylift will get you 3" - and you don't want more than that amount out of torsion keys (stock or aftermarket). Nothing good will come of that.

Good point...lol

I've been looking over his previous threads and a couple of different times members have asked him (including me) - and he never has outright answered. Plus, he does have more than a few threads where he talks about torsion bars - so its probably good it's clarified this time for sure.

OP: I think it's time for you to make a signature with all of your truck information listed within it. Click: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/profi...=editsignature

Yea it's 4wd. And as far as I know a body lift only lifts the body off the frame . I plan goin with 33's which I'm sure my truck can fit already. But I'm looking for ground clearance between the frame and the ground. I already sit higher than the Rangers that my buddy's have even tho I'm sure it's stock. And I have 245's on it now. So I figure with bigger tires I could get maybe 2 inches and the 2 inches roughly I can get from the torsion crank. Would give me a decent look and ride height . I'd go with a suspension lift if I had the 1400 bones to drop on one. And who's to say I don't go with a body lift to. People have sent me pics of their trucks and most look really good.

----------

And I've been looking into it quite abit and watching reviews . And I was sold and the torsion then I started seeing people bashing the idea. And i seen the aftermarket keys and leveling kits online but heard h can get the same out of stock keys. But for the rear end would u use a block or would it be better tk add an act ra leaf spring cause I read u can get a lift out of that also and beef up the back end.

Your truck most likely already has rear blocks factory, so stacking more on top can be dicey. I'd say go with lift shackles, add a leaf or a leaf swap.

How much of a man are you? Do you complain about your truck's rough ride often? Could you care less about a rough ride? If you're a real man and could care less about the rough ride that isn't really as rough as it sounds,

I suggest the ExpoRanger leaf pack + the stock block. That should get you where you want to be. It's either that or a custom arched leaf pack.

The ExpoRanger leaf pack is simply your stock leaf packs + the leaf packs from an Explorer merged together into two leaf packs. ExpoRanger leaf pack

t-bar crank is okay if your just sticking with a stock bumper and shocks. if your going to put a heavy duty bumper with a winch and lights, etc. you will want to put new keys in cause it will just sag back down to wear you started. trust me on that happened to me. and yes the ride is slightly rougher but what ever its a 4x4. for the rear don't stack blocks, you'll get a lot of axle wrap with the added possibility of a block popping out. if anything go with a set of bigger shackles in the back. you will get more articulation out of your leafs and there pretty cheap.

----------

this is with 3 inch body 2 inch suspension on 33's.
and don't worry about extra strain, yes there is added strain but its gunna happen with any lift.
