Do you know what vehicle it's from? If it's from and wagoneer or early bronco, then it'll work. If it's any other dana 44, then it'll be a full width, in which case you'll have to put a full width rear axle in.
$400 seems a little much to me, but if you don't have to replace the brakes, ball joints, or any seals, then it sounds like a good deal.
