issues with getting my lift installed.
so i bought my 6" kit from here
http://shop.suspensionmax.com/Shop/C...5844/SFV/32526
spring tech / doetsch parts.
first problem the ball joints that came with the UCA'S the boots were so hard they ripped when i pressed them into the arms. so ran around for 6 hours trying to find new ball-joints. finally i found a company that only deals with suspension stuff. they found the matching ball joints in a spicier brand with a grease Zerk (big plus). the ones with the kit were non serviceable.
so i get back to installing the lift, put the new coil in. they say a 3" lift coil but its the same height as my stock coil but just thicker. no biggie, doetsch instructions say lower the LCA with floor jack to change coils. ok done. reverse procedure for installing the new coils.
as per instruction i raise the LCA with the new coil and install the new spindle. hmm there seems to be an issue i cant get the UCA down enough as its hitting the side of the coil bucket or the LCA jacked up enough to get the upper ball joint into the new spindle. the instructions don't say i need a spring compressor and i had all the trucks weight on the jack. parts seemed to be maxed out in down travel and that was supposed to be ride height. wtf?
also they sent 2 brackets that i presume are new bump stops but as for installing them the step that pertains to them does not have pictures nor does the instructions match up to with what holes should be on the frame. another WTF?
at this point im really upset with this lift process. its a bolt on kit for Christ sake. took it all off put the stock parts back on so i can drive the truck cause its my DD. ive installed it 2 times now and hit problems. and this is the 2nd time ive tried to lift the truck, the first time i bought just fabcrap spindles and they were wrong ones. so maybe ill try once more but im almost ready to return this damn kit. i have too much money tied up in a pile of steel i cant even enjoy.

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
hmm...I always read that you needed the spring compressor to get the lift coils in. You can run just the spindles for little bit!
Little weird that the coil is the same height though.

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
same height but fatter spring steel. really want to run all the parts i bought, no fun only ridein around on half the lift kit.
kinda a lot of money for me to have tied up at the moment, and the stock shocks and breaks are shot so the lift kit is taking care of a few normal worn out items at 53k miles.

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
I don't know why you're bumping this... Justin gave you the answer, get spring compressors to correctly install the kit. Then install the bumpstops in the exact location as the factory, or where the suspention could hit frame.

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
Have you tried calling Suspension Max about your intstallation issues? Also it appears to be primarily a spindle lift. The springs would be the same size, but just beafed and retuned up for a better ride and steering control.

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
reinstalled the kit Friday, got the down travel bump stops figured out. got the kit fully installed (in the front) and the truck rode like a pogo stick. oh joy..... the UCA's were right against the new stops, so tight i don't think i could put a hair in between, hmm kinda stiff...
drove it around maybe 10 miles total and man was that stiff. also when i went over speed bumps the coils would make this huge BONG! noise, the bottom of the cols were moving in the LCA's. and not fully seatted in the LCA's. today i called the seller where i bought my kit. they told me id have to bring the coils back so they can test them. the boxes are plain white with the part numbers in sharpie on them so i gave them the doubt that boxes got mixed up.
tear the truck apart for the 4th time! take coils back. said they tested right for spring rate. but gave me a new set that were of smaller dia. spring steel = lower spring rate. got back home and installed the springs and holy crap! UCA's not forced against the down stop! also they fit the LCA's coil bucket properly. sweet lets go for a test drive.
go over a speed bump (under 15mph) CA CLANK CA CLANK CA CLANK! aw fuck what now, pull over look and i see nothing wrong. coils are still in there buckets clocked in the proper position. so now im lost with out a clue. it rides good. but every bump its sounds like the coils are going to fall out.
the first set of coils were same length just larger dia. spring steel.
first set of "lift coils" overall diameter was 5 7/8"
second set of "lift coils" overall diameter are 5 9/16"
the so called lift coils are stock length, to my understanding lift coils were supposed to be a little longer and a little higher spring rate than the oem to give the amount of lift. are the new coils too short and causing my loud clanking noise?
im asking here cause id like to see what others think.
im going to call the seller again tomorrow and see what the hell is going on. if i have too ill drive the damn truck the 52 miles to there warehouse/retail/install shop so they can see what the hell is going on.
after all this mess im wondering if i should of paid 700 more and gotten a fabtech or rcd kit. maybe i wouldn't be having such an issue.

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
i just installed the 6" RCD lift on my truck and i couldnt be happier. It rides a little stiffer than stock but soaks up anything i hit with it. my front coils came shorter and softer than my stock springs (i couldnt budge the stock ones, the RCDs had a tiny bit of feeling when i tried) anyway it also came with these urethane spacers to put in the LCA's which the coils seat into. Id say return that lift cuz it sounds ghetto and go with something else. I also saved some money by installing it myself like your doing. Ill take a pic if you wanna see what the bumpstop spacers look like on the truck too

Re: issues with getting my lift installed.
thanks but no thanks. its on finaly. i took the coils back and they "said" they were fine, but gave me softer coils. so im betting they fucked up and wouldent man up to it. whimps. wont get there stuff again imo.
