So, I'm needing to know how I can achieve a 6-8" suspension lift on a 2000 Ranger. They don't sell a lift like that for the Ranger, unless I want to do a 4" suspension lift and a body lift as well. I'd rather have the clearence.

So, any help here would be appreciated.

could always do a SAS ( solid axle swap). Then you will achieve whatever lift you wanted.

This changes the type of lift I can get? I was already planning for a SAS, Maybe I'm misunderstanding my options..

Getting, say, Dana44 changes my options for lift kits? If so, what does that open up for me? The rear end will be the same...

well i have never heard of a 6/8 inch lift. Therefore the only thing you could do is sas. ( to my knowledge)

You'll have to forgive me, I know what I want to do, and some of what is involved due to reading everything I could, however, I am still very new, this will be my first truck I've ever fixed up.

its no problem. as far as i know, ( which isnt alot) I have never heard of a 6-8 inch lift for rangers. So therefore i dont know of any other option of sas.

Yeah, I'm digging around about the SAS. For sure I want to do that, I don't like the axle type I have, and I'm wanting to at some point put a 302 in there as well.

skyjacker made 6 inch and 8 inch kits back in the day for gen 3's, but thats it.

as to an SAS, you set the height you want by using coilovers, or coils, or leafs. alot of people end up using leafs on their SAS's, but coil overs are becoming more popular.

I had thought the same but i dont think the kit would work for his gen ( 4) is that correct.

well dixon bros makes a long travel suspension lift kit and it utilizes coil over witch i would imagine are adjustable like the orw kit. but its at quite the cost http://www.dixonbrosracing.com/content/view/8/2/

Hmm, I'll look into using one of those 3. I don't want to put out the cash for the long travel.

I would do this if you want a Large Lift like you said 6"-8" then you need to do a custom lift thats is if you dont want to piece 2 lifts together. I would say go with the SAS and go one of 2 ways. Coils or leafs. It is cheaper to do leafs because all the thing you will need can be easly found at any junk yard Just find a full size chevy or ford. Then all blocks and shackles. Hell you can go even bigger then what you wanted to in the first place at this point its skys the limit. As for keepin the same rear axle If you are goin of a d44 up front you should just put at least the same in the rear matchin then up in the best bet so the stress is equaled out. and you dont have to worry about the stock ford axles givin out.

Good point, especially about swapping both axles, I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to look into how to use leafs to do a lift,...... I had planned on using a kit. Don't really care to buy 2 kits for a lift.... Would be a waste.

if youve been doing research on SAS's like you said, youd know how to use leafs.
