Post Should i be concerned about lifting a '99?

I Have a '99 2wd manual with 145K mileage. I want to lift/level it 2" inches mostly for ascetics, should I be concerned with the added stress of the lift and tires?

Im already in need of new ball joints but figured id replace them while I was under the truck installing the lift.

I believe I have a weak power steering system, I flushed it about a year ago when it began to whine, and the whining never really ceased.

is there any other parts I should look at replacing or strengthening?

also what's a good size tire to put on stock rims with a 2" lift?

this is the lift I intend to put on the truck:

That 'lift' would be for a 4wd truck or at least a truck that has torsion bars (2wd Trailhead, Edge or Sport models) - plus, aftermarket keys are junk & a waste of money.

First things first...
DO NOT BUY TORSION KEYS. Crank the current stock ones. After market ones put wayyy to much stress on the suspension components.

As for the power steering, join the party. Ford power steerings are known for whining, new and old ones.

The OP does not have torsion bars. I do not know of any 2wd model in 99 that has torsion bars.

Regardless of whether torsion keys are good or bad (they are bad), that lift will NOT work on his truck.

could I just use coil spacers on the front end and then blocks and ubolts from a junk 4x4 ranger?

the spacers im looking at seem to be for a 4x4 but I think theyd work.

spacers: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dy...d/model/ranger

well I googled it and it said a cheap alternative would be coil spacers, but honestly I have no idea if itd work for my model year because everything I do find is pretty vague...

that's what lead me to pose the question here, I figured some one here would possibly have done it-- or know more about my suspension than me--and could let me know.

----------

so would what was in that link work you think?
