2009 Ford Ranger FX4 : 2" Ready lift leveling kit and add a leaf
Needing some help and opinions with my 2009 Ford Ranger FX4 set up.. I'm hoping to be able to fit 32-33's once lifted.
I went to a local 4wd store, and they suggested the 2.25" Ready lift Leveling kit along with rear add a leaf, and new shocks. (I don't want to suspension lift it) And I was quoted $500 CAD. Anyone have any suggestions/opinions/help/pictures on this set up or other set ups that aren't going to shorten the life of my front end, or blow the bank, yet still fit 32" - 33" tires?
Thanks guys.

The lift you are suggesting is technically a susp lift. Have you thot of a body lift? 2-3" for $150-200, and you'll def fit 33's

Do the suspension lift, trust me you'll like it a lot more. Body lift is just kind of pain in the ass IMO.

Trust me I'd prefer susp as well, just letting him know about options

Re: 2009 Ford Ranger FX4 : 2" Ready lift leveling kit and add a leaf
Personally, Id rather stay away from a BL, just because of the look, ride quality, ETC.
Alright, my plan was to get this done, but I just wanted others opinions. As long as I could use this set up and fit 32-33's than i'd be happy with it, as I plan on driving in the snow and mud at times and the extra clearance and bigger tires would be the best.

Body lift will in no way affect ride quality, in fact, I'm betting the susp lift you have planned will make it ride rougher than now

I'm assuming the ready lift is just keys?! In that case just crank your torsion bars, then BL it, I know a lot of guys running them with no problems, there really are not many options for us 4x4 guys, but with the cranked bars and BL, 33s will fit with no rubbing, that's my opinion tho!

Re: 2009 Ford Ranger FX4 : 2" Ready lift leveling kit and add a leaf
I ran 33's with just cranked #1 Torsion Bars in the front, and an AAL in the back. Being an Fx4, you might already have the #1 Torsion bars, so all you would have to do is crank them up.
The Readylift leveling kit is Torsion Keys. They do the same thing as just cranking your Torsion bars, which you can do for free at your own home. Just make sure you have it aligned first.

Re: 2009 Ford Ranger FX4 : 2" Ready lift leveling kit and add a leaf
Alright. I'll check into it.. I'm just getting back into rangers as my last one was a 01' 2WD Ranger with 31's.. Anyone have any pics of the set up that I'm interested in going with? Id prefer this as Id also get the tires to fit that I want and also gain some ground Clearance.
Thanks guys

And Yes, That's what the readylift kit is, just torsion keys (2.25") .. If I just cranked my stock T-Bars would it cause any strain on any front end parts? And what is AAL? ( Sorry i'm a ranger noob)

Cranked Torsion Bars, and AAL with 33's. Lift equaled about 2". Valence and front flares were trimmed slightly as a precaution. I didn't notice any rubbing on highway. Only took it off-road once before I lifted it even more, and so I can't really provide much insight about flex rubbing.

Torsion keys are okay for about two inches of lift. If you install them and then crank your torsion bars on top of that, you'll be replacing your entire front end every few months.
Just cranking your torsion bars or just adding torsion keys won't tear up your front suspension, unless you're running all the stock parts and have a bunch of miles on them already anyway.
AAL= Add A Leaf.

You will be doing more strain with the keys then cranking the bars, i have an 08 and no, you will not have #1 bars, we sit lower then the others. I would get pre 06 keys and then do an add a leaf in the rear, there's no way we can run 33s like that, 32s will fit tho, here's mine with 31s

Re: 2009 Ford Ranger FX4 : 2" Ready lift leveling kit and add a leaf
Alright Sweet! That sound's like a better route to go.. Then I can save the price of the Ready Lift keys and just use the stocks, but still go with the Add a leaf, and new Shocks. Btw, nice truck.. I like that look.

Are you sure he won't have #1 bars? I do, and I'm just a sport not fx4

Mattsfx4 : Wouldn't That be a 06-07 Pre key Mod? A guy at my work's got an 07 with cranked bars and he's got 33's on his.

It does seem like the 08-11's Sit lower than the 06-07's STOCK.
