I work in the port of Houston, at one of the refineries that makes gasoline. The plant is a chemical/refinery, and the refinery on its own makes $2 million dollars a day on any given day. Thats approximately $728 million a year. 1 refinery.... Think about that

Just my O2!

Yes, we are dependant on oil, thats not the problem. The problem is that we buy foreign oil at OUTRAGIOUS prices per 55 gal. barrel, and sell our own oil to foreign countries for less than 1/2 of what we buy theirs for........WHY?

I've seen the post or email before on this.......if a 55 gal. barrel of oil from Kuaite is sold to us for $90, then when we sell them a bushel of our grain, it should be the same $90. The foreign countries know we rely on oil, so they RAPE us, but they need our grain, so hey, whats good for the goose, is good for the gander!

GUARANTEE if we did it, their price of oil to us would DROP!

The funny part about this is that Natural Gas is near record lows.

Actually, oil barrels are about 33 gallons, not 55. I drive what does the job for me. I have a 14 year old truck, a 13 year old SUV, and a brand new truck because the interest rate was better than buying used. There's nothing wrong with the old truck for what it is but I need 4X4 and more power. The old truck will have a good home once it's fully rehabilitated. CNG would be a nice thing but it would require a tank in the cargo space and that to me is unacceptable. I'll keep burning my gas and pay what I need to pay to do it.

you're close, a barrel of oil is 43 gallons, one barrel of oil makes about 9 gallons of gas. If we didnt know how to use every bit of that barrel of oil for chemicals and plastics etc. gas would be around $12.00 a gallon

I seem to remember when I was moving to Oregon from Texas and payed over $$ a gallon going through Cali. in a giant U-Haul. That was 5 years ago. Where the heck was gas that cheap when Obama took office? I looked around online at fuel prices when i moved up here and, depending on the website, it ranges from $1.74/gal-$4.15/gal nat'l ave. in '06. I remember when we first got up here, it ran me $88 to fill my Pathfinder. Gas was $3.85 at the cheapest place. I still have receipts. From then 'till now, it never dipped below $2.25/ gallon. People are digging deep to shun Obummer. He ain't the best, but he's a shoe in come 2012. These clown the GOP sent us to pick....they just keep getting worse. I need to move to Canada. Eh?

I learned something new today, and I've always wondered why a gallon of gas changes daily but not the price of a quart of oil. Wal-Mart, Autozone, etc. sell the same quart for $3.25/whatnot regardless if a gallon of gas is $3.99 or $3.81. Today, I needed an oil change on my wife's Ford Edge (not Ford Ranger Edge), which takes 5.5 quarts. I am trying to go with a longer drain interval since we mostly travel highway. Anyway, I was at almost 5,000 miles since my last oil change. I pulled into my usual place, which is Valvoline, and I had a $5 off coupon for a conventional change. I had no other services performed, and I spent almost $40 with a coupon! I think the total was $38.78, so the price seemed to go up a little. Also, has anyone else noticed that the plastic bags given by grocery stores, drugstores, etc. are getting thinner? I attribute it to the high cost of oil. My biggest gripe is doesn't our legislature members know that high gas prices will cause another recession because business is crippled with high fuel costs that all can't be absorbed by the consumer?
