Default Brakes and Rotors FIRST TIME

Hey guys

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge Super cab 4x4, am considering attempting some stuff myself such as changing pads and rotors

I have changed pads once on a old car with the help of a Haynes book

Was seriously thinking of trying to do pads and rotors on my Ranger myself

Also replacing seal in Front differential, and perhaps even ball joints

Like I said I did brake pads on a car once, so figure I could do the Ranger as well

Just got a big quote on above mentioned

Have had success of late with motorcycle repairs vis motorcycle forum, so figure I might be up to this

Was thinking of picking up the Haynes book as well as searching this forum for how too`s

Just wondered if anybody suggest I not attempt this...nows the time to speak up

I dont have to bleed the brakes to change rotors and pads do I?

Thanks was hoping for some feedback

You do not need to bleed the brakes and the rotor comes off easily. Just remove the bracket. POC! Watch some how to's so you know what parts to lube! Put some anti-seize on the back of the rotor.

I appreciate the reality check, I needed that. Ball joints are out of my league, I see that absolutely. Just the kind of stuff I hoped to hear, seriously!

I got carried away for a moment.

I am such a novice I need to study what each part even looks like, calipers etc

So I will start looking at your how too`s now

Thanks

Go get yourself a Chiltons repair book and a Haynes repair book. They will help you learn and walk you threw everything.

Yup non serviceable from factory, replacement upper control arms are serviceable though at least the moog ones are you can then just buy the ball joints from then on out rather than a whole control arm.

So yes I realize I goofed up in wrong thread, So if it`s moved or anything I understand!

Just read 2 how too`s here on brake pads and the other on pads and rotors.

1 of my calibers is quite rusted, just the left front

Now turns out I have life time brake pads, so I have that to consider.but only if they do it

But yes I can change front pads, I have everything that was listed including the C Clamp.

Thanks

Thanks for the Work book suggestions,Chiltons repair book and a Haynes repair book..Got it
