Default ran out of gas in 86 2.9 v6

i just bought my little 86. turns out fuel gauge was off by 1/8 tank. driving fine then , sputter, backfire, died. got it cranked back up long enough to go 1/4 mile to station. put 10 gallons and some stp carb cleaner. tried to crank and was very hard. had to keep cranking for couple of minutes. now every time i try to crank same thing, have to crank and carnk for couple minutes but when crunk runs fine, will even start right up after running for a while. i am mech retard and disabled. have rain tumor so right hand is paralyzed and am weak from chemp and radiation. any ideas whats wrong. just had full tune up and oil change week before.

Might be fuel pump issue or fuel filter or line clogged.

Could be getting air locked or could be the gas, if it had water in it, could be the stp, I like STP but you never know. Like above, could be the fuel pump, lines.

Certain F150's had duel gas tanks, so I guess it would be possible to have more than one pump and filter. However, I don't know if that was ever an option for Rangers. A simple Google search should help you there.

i have replaced my fuel filter it is still hard to crank. plus when it finally starts it runs fine for bout an hour then starts hesitating and sputtering, it even went dead at a redlight . could it be my injectors. if so how big a deal is it to diagnose and fix
