Default "New" Ford Owner

Hi,

I just recently bought a 1985 Ford ranger and I am looking to rebuild it. I figured I should find a forum so that I could get as much information as I could about the truck. I really don't know much about it, and I am still trying to find out the motor size. From what I heard when I bought the truck the engine has a rod thrown. All I see is alot of oil near the back of the motor and no puncture wound anywhere. I have noticed the exhaust has been cut right where it comes off the motor so I'm guessing maybe a manifold problem too from overheating.I need to get a battery and start the truck and listen to see how bad it really is. I will be taking pictures of the entire truck and posting them soon. Hopping to turn this truck into a ridge runner.

Information:
Year:1985
Make:Ford Ranger
Motor:???
4x4: Yes
Extras: Hurst Shifter

Welcome to the forum. Let's see some pics!

If you have your VIN number your engine size (as well as a bunch of other info) should be easy to figure out. Or some pictures of your engine bay should work...

Took some Pictures and I think the motor is a 2.8. Also it came to my attention that the guy who sold me the truck might not know what hes talking about with the thrown rod because all he said was it was loud, hints the no exhaust. Like I said wont know anything tell I get a battery tomorrow.
