Default New to trucks. Moving up from turbo civic...

Hey everyone, I'm a n00b to the truck thing. Just got my first one. I've had a bunch of subaru's in the past and my last car was a ~550hp turbo civic hatch. I got tired of people trying to race me in their riced out sedans and v6 mustangs. I've walked a dodge viper srt10 (among many other exotics) in my little 4 banger. There wasn't much on the road that could keep up so I got bored and decided to venture into the truck world. I also have a built yamaha banshee, so that was a factor in my decision on getting a truck aswell.

Anyhow, the truck is a 2000 Ranger 4wd 4.0l auto. It has a 3" body lift, 35" bfg a/t's, fiberglass "prerunner" front fenders, custom front and rear bumper w/heavy duty tow package, k&n cone filter and a 3"(i think) header-back flowmaster exhaust w/ two high flow cats and a turn down muffler right before the rear axle. The exhaust will be changed soon to a short pipe that dumps right behind the passenger side front tire. Where I live there are no emissions so its all good.

I plan on getting a long travel suspension kit for it so that it doesnt ride like a tank. It's a pretty rough ride right now. :P

Anyhow, here she is...

and my 'shee...

Welcome to FRF man!

I still have a lil civic for my DD, no turbo or anything, just for the MPGs

You only have one choice really for LT if you want to keep your 4wd and not go custom and that is the Dixon Bros. Kit. I was looking into it for a long time.

Hmm no pics that I can see...maybe just a filter at work though, can't wait to see pics later, hopefully...

EDIT: I see pics are linked from myspace so I will just have to wait till later to check them.

Welcome to the forum! Nice looking rides. Have you looked at blacking out the headlights?

And as Justin said, there aren't too many options for long travel 4WD kits.

Thanks guys.

@RangerJustin
Yeah, I kinda want another civic too, but leave it stock and daily drive it.
I've checked out the dixon bros. kit and their kit is $500 cheaper from Woolworth Motorsports and Glassworks Unlimited.
But I guess if I can just make the ride a bit softer then I'd be fine without the long travel kit.
Any ideas? Bigger leafs and taller shocks with springs?

@Tom
Thanks! Blacking out? You mean a film/tint overlay or is there another way?
I would like to get them a bit darker without loosing light output.
I'll probably tint the front orange blinkers and rear tails.
Yeah, the dixon bros. kit is one of the few I have seen and its a little spendy.
But I realize building a 'prerunner' isn't cheap.

With are damn torsion bars the only way to make them softer is crank them down a little more (lowers your truck) and get a softer leaf pack, deavers or nationals.

For the blackout headlights you can buy a set on ebay they look damn good too. Or you can get crystal all around and get rid of the amber, but blackout just looks a lot better to me. Just search 1999 black ranger headlights or a variation on that, look like this:

Ah, I see. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the info.

eeek, those look super 'ricey'. haha. like trucks with the altezza style tail lights. *puke*
I think i'll just stick to tinting the blinkers and tails.
I want to get a purple HID kit though. black and purple go so well together.

Some people like em and others do not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I tinted the tails on my last Ranger, definitely looks better.
I ran HIDs for a little, but didn't like to work for some reason, but yet they are fine in my offroad lights, meh, oh well.
