Texas (Ford) Ranger
How's it goin everyone?
Relatively new to this group, but of course had enough time on my first day to lay out some specifics.
I'm representing Central Texas in a one-of-a-kind rare truck, 2002 Ford Ranger Thunderbolt.
100% authentic, didn't buy the parts and put them on after and claimed shes real, shes got her sticker from SLP. Its disappointing, yet fun to tell people what I have because half the time they think im mistaking my truck for the F-150 Lightning, when in fact, I'm talking about the Ranger version.
Bought her in 2005 as my first vehicle and I protect her, as well as keep her in the best of shape that I can as if she were a diamond. Never been in an accident with her.
Here's the downside, she doesn't go past 90 which I find pitiful, and I want to change that. Granite, when I fix her to go faster, doesn't mean I'm going to drive more recklessly, I would still protect her.
Currently a college student, so I'm sure everyone knows what my budget is like, but I would love to hears way I could make her perform better. Also if anyone has any questions, you're more than welcome to send me a message.
On a side note, I'm studying for a Bachelors in Small business/ Entrepreneurship, once I complete that within the next two years, I'm going to go to either Wyo tech, or UTI Houston to get my automotive degree so that I can open up a customization shop and just work on cars for my career. So if anyone has any suggestions regarding when I open up my shop, or which automotive school I should go to, I would appreciate to hear that as well.

Haven't really done any mods to it quite yet, money limits me, but she has a bright future ahead of her. Thats why im looking for cheap modifications to do to my truck to hopefully make her perform better. Where did you see another Thunderbolt?

Hey welcome to the forum, don't see many thunderbolts around... how about some pics?
You can get a programmer to remove the 90mph speed limit.

Pics please!! Now!!
Welcome to FRF! And as Tommy said a programmer will get rid of that limiter as well as give you multiple tunes to run.

she doesn't have the original box air filter, shes already got the cone, with a cold air intake box, that was one of the modifications done to her. Is that what you are referencing to? and as far as the programming, does the device cost much? The reason why I never pursued it before is because I heard several rumors that if I programmed it to take off the limit, it would also mess up the engines life... whats the deal with that?

Ranger looks sweet!
A programmer isn't cheap, runs about $500. I imagine the affect it has on engine life would depend on the kind of tune you have. However, with a tuner such as the XCAL 3 you can run the stock tune (and remove the rem limiter) and still switch it to a racing tune or some other performance tune as desired.

Kinda figured they ran around $500, I looked into them before, I was just making sure that I wasn't looking at anything different. Thanks for the compliments, I try to keep her in the best of shape, just now shes got a lot of build up debris on her front end that I gotta figure out how to get off. Suggestions welcomed there as well, I know a few but sometimes something plain and simple does the best trick. As far as dropping her, she is already dropped about 2" from stock, and I have considered another 2" possibly. She takes corners like a pro, all I have to get situated now is some new shocks, maybe a wider sway bar, but it seems wide enough as it is. She lost a stabilizer link a while back that I had to replace (passenger side).

I think the STX valance from 04-05 would look really good on there.
