New with a 1984 ranger and in need of some advice
I just recently, a month ago, picked up a 1984 Ranger and have found that some parts are quite tricky to come across.
I have been in the market for a truck for a while and this one was just too good a deal to pass up. It isn't in perfect condition but it is definitely something I can make my own.
I am not sure exactly were to post with my questions so I will just make a list here and as I navigate the site place them accordingly. And if somebody just happens to know some answers that would be fantastic.
1. Where do I find a 'Fuel Sender Unit' for an '84? I have heard that an '84 bronco II sender unit will work but the service guy at the Ford dealership said that isn't the case. Can anybody affirm either answer?
2. One of the things I want to do in the future is create a switch panel that will control the lighting, brights; wipers, speed & fluid. Because of this I want a simplified steering column with just a lever for the turn signals and if possible a tilt. Is this possible? What steering columns fit an '84 ranger?
3. What are the 4 rectangles on the dash bezel between the speedometer and other gauges supposed to read? And where might I find one for an automatic? The one I have on mine is from a manual.
4. And lastly, are parts swappable between the '83-'88 models? Mainly exterior body and interior pieces.
Thank you for your help with these questions I do look forward to your answers.
Stephen
