Default Looking at a 2005 FX4

Hello group. New guy here. I've been shopping around for a Ranger for a few months and came across a (check title above) '05 with 101k on the clock. Seller wants $7250 ... but it's been in a collision. Good news (i guess) is that it was rear-ended. To me that suggests that the idiot was in the other car, not the vehicle I'm thinking of buying.

I should add that it has been fully repaired. I noticed a chip under the taillight that gave away a skim coat of Bondo. Other than that, I saw no evidence of damage. The tailgate may be new. The bed has a spray-in liner.

The truck tracks fine, stops straight. I'm ready to pay the man tomorrow. Comparable trucks go for $9K up here.

Any thoughts?

No salvage -- the title is clear. I don't think the hit was that bad, but I've been carfaxing all my prospects so I know of any significant events. The bumper still looks original (I suppose it could be a used piece). I'm guessing that what ever happened, it just got the sheet metal.

Do I look good in it? I look good in everything.

The body looks great. There aren't even many stone chips up front. I spent about half an hour going over it before I took it for a drive.

I'll crawl under it tomorrow for a few minutes with a flashlight just to make sure I'm not missing something. Here's a link to the Craigslist ad. http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ctd/3694891298.html

That sux. Decent Rangers aren't that easy to find around here. They're usually rusty, banged up or priced crazy. I can pretty much buy an F150 for the same money, but I don't want a full-size truck.

Looks good....if it drives good then thats the big plus.
Just because a truck was damaged in an accident doesnt mean it doesnt have a lot of life left...

Well, I bought the truck today. The seller had pics of the collision damage, and it turned out to be limited pretty much to the bumper (which they replaced). I'll post some photos after I get it home tomorrow.

Good catch! Congrats on the truck. It's hard to find trucks up here without some kind of accident history bc of the winters, at least this guy was honest with you.
