Hah, I know what you mean man!
I want to get into racing too,
But I want to do rally and circuit racing, not much for Dragstrips,
;p

I've tried to start learning about cars and engines and all that, but I don't know where to start, and I don't really have anybody to teach me.
:/
Ya know?

Get into a car club, go out to the races, spend time here. Ask questions have a ball. Join a 4wd club where you are. They can be an amazing assett you will never regret joining. Read, a LOT, I just bought a factory manual for my 75 Buick, I have one for the Sonoma, and next is one for the Ranger. That's not only what I do here and for fun, that's what I do for school. I'm a diesel tech. My buddies and I have had countless nights drinking, bbqing and just talking about cars, and building em. I don't know how many nights we all stayed up arguing about the single best car supposedly in existance. Only to end up talking about it again. Or the best way to do this or that or the other thing with a car. And we know everything from 50's to today and I know a little bit more than they do about pre 50s lol The only thing that will stop you from learning is you, so make sure you're having fun at it. Makes it way easier to remember, or pay for it, like I did. That sucked.

I love to drag, I'm planning a prerunner with a buddy right now. I had Suby's cuz I rally raced for awhile lol i wrecked the last one bad, don't remember a week. And I'm currently ready to get back into those, and planning to build 3 of them with a few friends. It's going to be a lot of fun. I build trucks because most of my friends don't. So the rest of my friends call me a lot lol "can you help me move".

Yeah, I know what your sayin,

I was kinda forced into maintaining my truck, but I wanted to.
Aha.
I've only just started with simple maintenence, SparkPlugs and wires, Filters, Oil, etc.
And I'm ready to start going bigger,
I want to try and build an engine for my truck, maybe even a tranny.
But I know nothing about them or where to start on those things.
ahah.

Rally Racing looks mad fun, but drag racing, its just too short for me.
Especially now that its only like 1500 feet in most places

I've been lookin around for Ranger Manual/repair books for a 94
But haven't looked to particularly hard.

I don't know where to find 4x4 clubs, or racing clubs, aside from SOCA
But I think you need to have a car to race to join that.
I do know where the closest tracks are around here though.

I've got a friend however that works in a mechanics shop
Who said he'd help me with all this stuff I want to do.
So thats a plus.

Go to the track and bulls--t with them. You can make good friends and fun times. Get online to search for clubs, talk to the guys on the forum around you. Drag racing btw is a quarter mile 1320 ft. In that many feet with the right car, your free (shameless Fast and the Furious rip off lol) you really are. Now they are limiting to 1000 ft. If nothing else go look for street racers in your area. (I used to street race, I do not condone street racing, or watching it, but there is nothing illegal with being around them when they are not committing illegal actions or trespassing) They may not answer your questions but you can get some in with some guys who may help you. Rally racing is the SHIZNIT!!! It's pure adrenaline from start to finish!!! Hauling balls down a road that may or may not kill you! Shifting gears, you have to trust your car, your skill and the guy with his balls in his throat next to you giving you directions!

As for rebuilding stuff, take your time. Do your research, and have a buddy help you out that knows what he's doing. It takes a lot of measuring to make sure you have it all right. It's awesome that first time you start up the engine. First engine I built 383 stroker Chevy, 475 hp, first gear four low the front tires off the ground. I loved that K5 I put it in, and that was the bitchinist truck. That engine note made me cream my pants lol

Haha, Alright.
I'll take your advice on the tracks and racers.

I want to build something thats got a lot of muscle and a lot of sound,
But all I have to put it in is my Ranger,
And I don't know how I would know how to build something that would fit in my truck,
Where do i find stuff like that out?

Here, and anyone you talk to. You can put a 302 (5.0 Liter) Ford small block v8 in that truck. Like I said spend time talking to everyone. I can't tell you much about that swap. But I can tell you it is badass to watch one run!

You would want a pre 96. So anything 95 and older. You have an OBD I truck. (OBD - On Board Diagnostics, I have OBD II 96+) They are all the same size, one out of a mustang will have better power though.

Yeah, I know,
D;
I was just thinking about how that would work.

I think i'll probably end up with a 5.0 mustang Engine and Tranny,
But from there,
How would I set it up to 4wd

Same way I would if I used a 2wd manual ranger stuff?

by getting a fitting t-case and all that good stuff?
