Hello out there in cyberspace! I need help.... I've owned my 1989 Ranger since 1992 and now have over 250,000 miles on it. Its a 4x2 super cab xlt with a 2.9 v-six. I have finally came across a part that seems impossible to find. What I'm looking for is the rubber drive shaft coupler that connects the transmission to the front drive shaft. Ford is telling me I have to buy the drive shaft in order to get the coupler. My other alternative is to have a custom built shaft with a common u-joint replacing the coupler, which is what it should have had in the first place. I know I must not be the only person to have this problem because the goofy thing is made of rubber so naturally its going to wear out. I'm being forced to scavenge junk yards with no luck, so now I'm trying here. Its just a round spacer about 5 inches in dia. and about an inch thick with 6 steel sleeved holes for the bolts and a hole in the middle for the shaft. Myself, being a steamfitter, would call it a "Flange". Anyway I would really love it if someone could tell me where in the heck I can buy one.
