Default Hi from Nashville

Helloe everyone! Great site, I have relied on this for a couple of months now to fix a few issues that have arisen with my truck and finally decided to join and start posting.
I have a 2009 Ranger XLT with the 4.0, 4dr extended cab. It is a great truck, I grew up with Ford's and bought this brand new when I turned 18.

Lots of great advice on this site, it has saved me money by avoiding a CAI and going with the air silencer mod

I am now in the process or replacing my blend door actuator (it went out months ago but I am just not getting around to troubleshooting and replacing). It is definitely the actuator, I bought a new one but had some issues late last night getting it installed so trying again when I get home from work.

I am also considering a new exhaust, probably leave the stock piping and just install a 'bolt-on' muffler as I do not have a welder at this time. Again, lots of great advice and sound clips found here to help make my decision easier.

Thanks for the great site and I will see you on the forums!

Thanks for the welcome.
I got my blend door actuator fixed today, finally cool/cold air blowing again without using Max AC.

It was a pain...the actuator had went out on mine, luckily not a broken door. If you do a search here you can find a few threads with info, but here you go....

Lower the glovebox, you should see a white box (if stock) with a cable running into it.
This is the actuator. To try and test the actuator without removing it, turn your ignition to the 'On' position but no need to start the engine. Slowly move your temperature control, and place your hand or a couple of fingers on the actuator and see if you can feel any vibration or the arm moving.
If there is no movement, then the actuator is probably bad. You can unplug it and plug it back in just to check, but a new one is around $40 (at my local OReilly Auto).

Replacing the actuator is a chore, because there is a third screw at the very back that is difficult to get out. Keep working at it and it will come, I got my girlfriend to assist me as her small hands could reach back there easier than I could. When all screws are removed, pry the actuator up and pull it forward, take the new one and line up the 'D' control arm (plug the new actuator in and adjust temp control) and then install it and tighten the screws up.

If your actuator is working, the blend door is probably broken and there are some very good guides online to assist you.
