Default Power windows don't work

I have a 2000 XLT 4x4 and my wife rolled down the drivers side window the other day and the power windows just stop working. I can't operate either window with either switch. I found the 10amp fuse for the windows blown and replaced it with no luck. There is power to both the drivers side and passengers control switches. The switches check ok for continuity but, when I looked for 12v across the switch contacts I was only getting .2v. After a little while I unplugged the wire harness to the drivers side regulator and found I had the full 12v across the switch contacts. Sounds like the regulator to me but, it seams odd that both regulators would go bad at the same time. If it is the just the drivers side regulator would it prevent both widows from operating?

Same thing happened to my 2001, the driver switch had alot of corrosion and prevented any side from working, cleaned it with electrical cleaner and it worked

Well if I understand what you wrote, I'd say you have a dead short in the driver side motor with a voltage drop like described. Thats why it blew the fuse.
Have you tried disconnecting the driver side and rolling up the passenger side , By disconnecting the driver side you should get full voltage to the passenger side window..

Thanks for the quick reply. The passengers side still doesn't work with the drivers side disconnected. I was leaning towards a shorted motor too but thought that it was odd that both motors would go bad at the same time. Looks like I will be replacing the motors.

Thanks.
