New from Hawaii/New York
Hey guys,
My name's Billy, and I am from Hawaii, but go to school in up state New York. I am not a ranger owner yet, but I joined this forum to figure out if I really wanted to get a Ranger or not, and if I did to see how easy it would be to modify. I am looking for some advice as far as what's a good year to get and what I am gonna be looking at problem areas wise. I'm lookin to spend around 5-10 grand, want lower mileage and 4 wheel drive, and want it to end up being lifted or at least on bigger tires.
So...yeah! Any advice would be great, and I look forward to maybe joining your ranks! Oh, and btw, I'm a motorcycle guy too and I have a 05 GSX-R 600 with a few mods, so thats what this truck will be used for other than as a grocery truck.

Welcome to FRF! Get a ranger, it'll be the last truck you'll ever want.

Welcome to FRF! As Myk said, if you can find a Level II, that is the top of the line. In 2002 they had the FX4 Off Road which was the same as the Level II, just made in 02.

I'm in Syracuse, goin to Syracuse University...after scouring the web, I've really only found 2 Rangers I like, and it seems like the Dakota might be a better option for me (although I'm a die-hard Ford fan). Most Rangers up here seem to come with the 3.0 V6, which just doesn't sound like it has the get up and go that I want.

welcome from a fellow new yorker! but yeah i agree that buying a truck in upstate new york/NYC you def gotta check for rust damage due to all the salt we use here for snow removal.
