New to FRF! Now I need help with MoDs!
Hey everyone,
I’m happy to be a member of FRF. Joined a couple of days ago but because of classes I haven’t been able to explore this place as much as I would like. I just turned 21 and as a treat for myself I bought my first vehicle, which is a 2005 Ford Ranger Fx4 with a 4.0L v6 (only 17,000 miles!). I know very little about trucks and attempting a degree in mechanical engineering, I think its time to change this. So being on this site I hope to find friendly people who are not afraid to answer any dumb questions I may have because now that I finally got my new toy all I want to do is add to it! So thanks for having me and I hope I get to talk to everyone soon.
-Ben

Yeah my plan is to lift it but I am not sure the best way to go about that. I'm not looking for anything to high but its definitely something I would like to do. Also, I am looking for a way to increase my mpg b/c at the moment it seems to be a little less then what it should be. I have heard that a cold air intake system helps with that but again I have very little knowledge with trucks . Let me know if you have any ideas!

the 3" body lift from summit sounds great (especially the price). My 1st time driving I had to drive it from my home town(Yuma, Az) to where i go to school(Flagstaff, Az). Getting into town around 1/2 tank of gas I then ran the rest of it out going to work everyday before school started. I think my gas tank is 16 gallons and came out to be about 15mpg with about 15 miles with gas light on. I just was curious b/c with 1/2 a tank on Highway and 1/2 around town i figured it would be higher then 15 mpg. Now, when I was calculating all this out i did not write it down so I can't be sure that my memory is accurate. I'm keeping track of the tank i have now and it will be all around town driving so I'm expecting it to be quite low. Ill keep every1 posted on how it turns out so I can see if I am getting low MPG.
I would also like to say thanks to everyone for the welcome!
And Fx4wannabe nice looking truck! That's where I'm heading with a little bit of guidance from FRF!

Your MPG is also hampered by the camper on the back it adds some weight

Sorry took me a bit to get back to everyone just had a good Ranger Experience HA! So below you can see the amount of snow that has built up on my ranger and that was hours ago... Wanted to take it out for a spin in the snow with a couple of buddies. Gota say it felt good watching other guys having to dig their truck out. Flipped my 4X4 switch and just crawled out of my spot NO PROBLEM reversed up to the two guys rolled down my window and asked them if they needed some help HAHAHA.
Again thanks for the information Mykhael after romping through the snow I am now heavily motivated to add to this already great truck. I didn't think about the weight of the shell >< . May be a weird way to look at it but do you think the shell could be messing up the aerodynamic of they truck? (again could be a stupid question).
StevieJay I'll be sure to send what ever I learn your way also =D
