Hello! My name is Ben and I've been in upstate NY for 4 years now. I sold my car on the other coast and bought my Ranger on the boarder of NY and VT at a used fleet vehicle place for a pretty good price.
And so the Ranger details:
She's a bright yellow 2001 V6 4.0L SOHC 4x4 Extended cab Ranger with modifications made for fleet use which appear to be:
-driver window mounted spot light (I have not been able to get working)
-two amber flashers installed in the front grill
-interior added amber flasher control switch panel with two switches
-hard shell top bed covering that is mounted on a hinge at the front of the bed with a fluorescent under shell light mounted
My Experience:
-I have loved having this truck to help my friends move, help people in the community, be able to grab awesome stuff that new yorkers seem to leave out everywhere in this state and she has helped me save hundreds on trash because I am able to make trips to the transfer station for a fraction of the cost of regular trash service
Challenges I've Overcome:
-I used the parking brake when I first got it and the cable snapped and got caught in the front left wheel hub requiring new rotors and an new cable.
-Last year the truck was dropping out of gear and I discovered and replaced rusted and leaking automatic transmission lines under the front center of the truck.
-More recently a problem with the brakes caused me to find a leaking brake line and I was able to do that replacement myself, very cool.
-Most recently (which is what brought me to this forum) are a mysterious combination of electrical short, O/D OFF light blink and ABS problem which I will post in the correct category
In short I have loved having a truck that is simple enough for me to work on and plus the bright yellow color makes me feel like I'm driving sunshine
I look forward to meeting other Ford Ranger Enthusiasts and hopefully getting some good direction to keep her running for many years to come
-Ben
