Default pull bed or drop tank?

hi all, my introduction title is the question that brought me here. You see yesterday i got a 1990 ranger for next to nothing all it needs is a new fuel pump. anyway in researching and diagnosing the issue I see a lot of people remove the bed instead of dropping tank. my mechanic friend thinks I should drop the tank he's never heard of removing the bed to get to fuel pump. what would you do ? some things worth mentioning are the tank is full and it has ac cap on the bed.

Welcome to the site.

I pulled the bed...it's right there once the bed is out of the way.

Although general truck condition will play a part in this as well.

thank you for your reply. the truck is pretty clean only a spot or 2 of rust at rear fenders and no puuty. it was garage kept it's whole life and sat for 10 yrs after the owner passed away. I never saw a Pa car so old and so clean underneath. I don't think it ever saw snow so I don't think the bed bolts will be a problem

Welcome to FRF. When I had to do fuel filler neck & hoses & spring shackles I pulled the bed off my Ranger, IMO it made it easier to work on with out it in the way.

Welcome to frf. Pull the bed if the bolts are not rusty.
