Default Hey guys, a Bama boy here

Hey fellas. I'm considering buying a Ranger, and I have a few questions. First of all, how roomy are the 2 door supercabs? the one I'm looking at is a 99 model, with the jump seats (turned sideways). I know my best bet is to just go and sit in it to see if its comfortable, but I'm lazy. I'm 6'4 with a hefty build, so I'm worried that it will be too cramped for me. However, I used to have a geo tracker that I could fit very comfortably in. I think in my case, its a matter of how "tall" the seats are from the floorboards. I know I can't drive a toyota for the life of me, because the seats are so low.

My next question is regarding general maintenence. I read that the 95-99 rangers are good because parts are cheap and easily replaced, which means to me that I can work on this truck in my driveway with my basic toolset and a couple of ramps. Is this true, or was the review I read wrong? I have basic engine knowledge, I've replaced a muffler bearing and blinker fluid in a few cars.... I can obviously do stuff like change plugs, oil, and filters, and I've replaced a starter (I believe it was on a ranger, if i remember correctly), and an alternator. The reason I ask about this, is because in my old honda, just to get to the alternator (which went out about twice a year), you had to put it on a hydraulic lift, remove the tire, take off the CV something-or-other, and then finally loosen up the alternator. that's too much work for me.

My final question is about audio. Most likely I will want to install an Infinity Bassink. I know that I can have one with either the factory system or aftermarket, but I don't know which one I want. If I keep the stock radio, I'll disable the use of one of my back speakers, so I can run that pair of wires to the sub. From what I've read, the sound quality isn't that great, and since I lose a speaker, I'm afraid it might sound uneven in the cab. I'm not very fond of aftermarket headunits eiher though. They all seem too flashy for my tastes.. When I look at my radio, I'm looking for 1 of 3 things.. the time, the radio station, or the CD track number. I don't care to see a tach revving up to 10k rpm's, or dancing pixellated strippers...

Welcome to FRF! I know Clarion (and probably others) sell aftermarket headunits that aren't flashy and look like they could be OEM.
