Hi all,
Just picked me up my next project truck a 1995 Ranger supercab 4.0v6 4x4, in good shape for a 95.. Especially for 700 clams!! has 180k on it and the tranny is now dead, thus why I got it dirt cheap.. Still can drive it (barley) but slips like mad.. tranny fluid is more brown than red... so pretty sure its just a 180k toasted tranny.. found a replacement used low mileage one already, just need to go get it.
I have a lift at my disposal so these types of things are pretty easy..
Anyway I did have a check engine light on saying it was running lean, (scanned with my ODB2 scanner, Luckily it seems it's a late 1995) but runs great and smooth and quiet.. no knocks ticks or bad sounds from the engine, (still very smooth) fluids looked good and smelled good. No start up smoke showing valve wear .. Not to concerned by the CEL codes, could be a few simple things, PCV, or seals, etc.
ABS light is on.. bet its the speed sensor... not a big deal either. who needs ABS in the mud
Front is a bit saggy, not level any more.. a simple crank of the T-bars should fix that.
Got a nice new set of 30" mud tires on the old rusty jeep that will most likely go on it.
Any way wanted to say hello and I'm sure I'll have some questions and posts as I swap the transmission and fix odds and ends.
