Re: 2nd ranger first post
New to site, im Cody.. machine mechanic during the day, work on trucks the rest of time. Single dad.. 29yrs old. First truck was a 94 ranger 5 speed 2.3l. Loved it. Hardly any issues till it was totaled in wreck. Now I recently bout an 86 ranger auto 2wd with 150000 miles but runs good after replacing plugs and wires, ran some gas treatment and a good oil change.. I have too much slack in driveshaft so I get a good jerk when put into gear so I believe Ima go ahead and get a whole new rear end.. instead of trying to replace all those gears, if u can even buy individually.. cheaper and easier. Bout a fuel filter Ima change in next day or two. This backup truck is now gonna have to be number one for a while so Ima put some money in it to try prolonging life with not a lot left if I had to bet on 32 yr old truck with majority of parts look factory besides newish shocks and what I have done.. I'm used to a v8 so the 4banger is taking patience and interior is like 91% brand new looking if u can believe and the better gas mileage is pretty cool. Wish myself and my oooold but new ranger together till atleast 200,000 miles.. that's not quite 50,000 more so close to that will be surely my money's worth. My first ranger did makes me a believer in the 2.3l atleast.. hope this older automatic can impresses as well!!! Thx
